Marathon

Monday, May 31, 2010

I did it! I am recovering very slowly. My time was 5 hours 9 minutes. The last 1 1/2 hours was excrutiating with the last 3 miles seemed to take forever. I met a lady about mile 10 also doing her first marathon and we kept each going. I am recovering very slowly. My time was 5 hours 9 minutes. The last 1 1/2 hours was excrutiating with the last 3 miles about to kill me. I felt like I might pass out the last mile. I met a friend about mile10 - a lady from Lewiston doing her first marathon and we kept each other going. I cried when I finished because I was so happy to be done - tears of joy and pain. I am totally drained and almost sick to my stomach (probably from eating so much gel). My leg bothered me a little between mile 5-15 but after mile 15 my legs just felt so terrible and I started to get a big pain in my butt - literally! It was a great experience but I will not be running another full marathon.

Awesome job - Now you are in the 1% of the world's population that have run a full marathon. If nothing else, you now have bragging rights! Congratulations on your achievement.

Congratulations! Never say never. I said the same thing and the bug hit me a couple of weeks after my first marathon. You should be incredibly proud!! If you can make it to a pool today do a little swimming to help stretch out the muscles, or even a short walk, it will help tremendously!
