The value of Sparkpeople

As I have been recording my points today, I have been reflecting on what Sparkpeople is doing for me. I am losing weight, (I'm almost down to where I was when I joined Sparkpeople), but that seems not to be the more important benefit in being a member.
When I read through the posts every day I find many reasons to be happy and upbeat. The shared motivation helps me to keep striving for a healthy lifestyle. Yesterday I read a statistic I found interesting, People who post on sparkpeople are more likely to lose weight and get healthier. I find that fascinating. Participation has its benefits.
I am very methodical about my points posting. I work from the day before, because I never know what today will bring. Its convenient for me. As I go down the list I generally skip the Post a message spot. I'll come back to that later. I go on to read three articles. Talk about becoming educated. The articles posted always bring new and good information. I can put that information to use.
I don't often need to do a web search, but yesterday I did a whimsical search to find out the nutritional value of Hemp. When I got through reading, (6 pages later) I knew why I like hemp milk and breakfast cereal with hemp in it. I will be making hemp a regular part of my diet. Not because it will make me skinnier, but because it has a multitude of benefits for my body.
I truly like the process of recording points and I try to make over seventy each day. I find the time spent is really worthwhile. It shows in my attitude, my weight, my energy, enthusiasm, and all the good parts of my life.
I am grateful, so grateful that Sparkpeople came into my life and kept nudging me until I joined.
