Pfffffffffffttttt Again.

Thursday, May 27, 2010

Did anyone notice I did not post my usual blithering blog yesterday? LOL. We had NO internet. Alltel has decided to dump us because we spend over 50% of online time roaming and not on their tower. So I called last night when they did not answer our internet call and they said we have been suspended and I said, "How can you suspend us when I am paid in advance?!!!!!!!" I had to call them back today and they let us out of our contract and are giving us till June 8th to find a new provider. Plus we will get a credit refund. So we are stuck now with Hughes. No other choice. I've heard really bad things about them. emoticon

Ugh, sorry. Seems like people in customer service always want you to do their jobs FOR them.

So sorry to hear about the server. We thought that we had expensive internet providers here in Australia but we get unlimited (25GB) for a month and pay $89.95. If we go over the limit, they slow the speed down to a crawl.

I guess it is way better than your problems. I sure hope your new provider will give you better service.
I love reading your blogs, so am waiting for the next one.
Hugs

Unfortunately all of the telecom providers are moving in this direction now, with both internet and cellular calling. They will term you as an "expensive" customer and decline to offer you service. It's a sort of loophole in telecom regulations that cellular service is still considered a "luxury" and not a necessity and there is "plenty" of competition (notice the ticks around these words) so no one is REQUIRED to offer you service. Pretty lame, but from a dollars and cents perspective one could see why they would go that direction. (You can tell I used to work for one of the big 3 carriers, huh?) I'm sure it's horribly frustrating for you, though. :( I haven't heard much lately either way on satellite providers, but hopefully they have stepped up their game in recent years and improved service. Best of luck on your search!!

I think that is just nuts. Do hope you are able to get a new provider soon.

I haven't heard anything about Hughes. I thought they only provide the satellite connection, but then you also have to have an IP.

Gosh, I wish I had an answer for you. emoticon

You must live out in the boonies. I've heard horror stories about satellite internet. Are there any other cellular providers you could get internet from? I don't live out in the boonies, just a few miles out of town, but unfortunately cable and DSL aren't available, so I went with cellular internet from Cricket. I hope you find a suitable replacement ISP. Good luck!

Boy, that sure makes me glad that I live out in the middle of nowhere where we actually have pretty good internet service. We are serviced by the local telephone cooperative and they(we) are pretty progressive about good communications. We have had DSL available for about 7 or so years and if you lived outside the area (about three miles) there was microwave type service. Now there is also satellite service. They are also starting to put in fiber optic cable from the trunk lines into individual homes and businesses. It's a long way from the old party lines of forty or so years ago!!!

I only didn't notice your absence yesterday because I'd been so blown away by "Blood, Sweat, and Tradition."

OMG, about the Internet!! But, um, weren't you roaming all the time because you couldn't get the @#)@Q(*&$(*!! (blessed) reception anywhere near their @#)@Q(*&$(*!! (godforsaken) towers?? Well, you're better off without 'em! If only we could build our own Internet connections somehow.

OMG - when it rains it pours when it comes to your internet woes. But I agree, with some hopeful thinking, anything (in this case Hughes) has to be better than what you had. Have an open mind until they give you reason to believe the rumors. We're all rooting for you. You never know what the power of positive thinking can do. I'll be mighty interested to see what you tell us when June 8th or 9th gets here.

I had hughes when I lived in Alabama. We had to pay for the system-upfront and we NEVER got the credit refund the offered when we signed on. If they offer you one print out the offer- we didn't and when we went back to look it was no longer there. Service was great for awhile- then they said we were using it to much using to many minutes- we were suppose to have unlimited access. Their system kept getting slower and slower - then our area got DSL so we changed.
Good luck.

How can they suspend YOU when their system isn't working 2/3 of the time?
Hope Hughes is better, or at least just as bad.

Hopefully, you'll be pleasantly surprised! Nothing could be worse than what you had. How does it feel to be fired from your internet company? I can't believe they did that...idiots! THEY ARE IDIOTS! If they did their job, you wouldn't have had any problems. Must have been dip stick or whatever his name was! Well, here's where they can go:
