After 22 years of "trying"...

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

In 1988, I gave birth to my second child and kept the additional weight on. Year after year, I would try a new exercise program, and even though it looked great on paper, it never lasted more than a month or so. I gave up easy. Way too easy, and I guess part of it was because I didn't think I was worth it. More years passed and more weight gained. Sometimes I would eat more and sometimes a lot less. Then cancer hit. A slight weight loss followed, but then I gained it back again. More years passed by and I found myself at over 200 lbs. Pretty scary for someone who always felt and looked best between 128 and 132.

More exercise equipment and videos were bought that just collected dust, and eventually more weight was gained. Finding myself very close to 250 lbs and heading towards 50 yrs old was my wake up call. Thank God that is the only wake up call I had to have to get myself straightened out. This came at the same time that my oldest daughter told me about SP and I was ready to listen. It was also the same time period when I had been questioning something else. I will soon be ordained into the ministry and I've been wondering how I'll be able to serve others if I'm not willing to put the time and energy into serving my own highest good.

SP is giving me the tools with tracking nutrition and exercise to help keep me informed and motivated, as well as everything else about the site, including the community support.

So, here's to family and friends and SP and to taking care of Me emoticon
