Every month I put down a goal to lose 5 pounds that month……then life happens. The beginning of May I was at 155.8 so right now I should be almost at 150.8, right? Nooooo! I weighed in this morning, and I was at 162. The scale didn’t surprise me all that much; in fact, I was expecting to be over 160. All the same, I did have the feeling of being let down, even depressed. I have had a lot of things interfere with my life, which gave me a good excuse to eat too much and the wrong things.
My daughter graduated from high school on Friday night. This month we have had several senior banquets that we had to attend. Most of these had BBQ to eat, those big yeast rolls, and dessert. Not a good combination. Then there was Mother’s Day which was another excuse to eat the wrong things. Then all the food I made for the graduation party. So obviously looking back you can’t make excuses for eating the stuff and still expect to lose weight.
I really think a goal of losing 5 pounds per month is not unrealistic, but you have to have a plan….a long term plan and a short term plan. So my long term plan is to lose 25 pounds in 5 months. So October 24, 2010 is the date to reach my goal. The short term plan is to lose 5 pounds per month. To do this I will need to not let life interfere with my plan, stay on track with my eating, exercise (cardio and strength) 5 times per week. I’m also going to make that vision collage that I have always said I would do one day, but I never get around to doing. I’m also going to laminate it so it won’t get torn up when I cry all over it when I have setbacks. I have decided I’m going to put a picture of Valerie Bertinelli in a bikini on it. She just turned 50, and I’ll be turning 50 in November, so that’s what I want to look like at 50. I’m also going to have a reward system set up for each month that I meet my goal. This is what I have come up with so far:
June 24 – weight 157 (5 pounds lost) – Pedicure
July 24 – weight 152 (10 pounds lost) – New tennis shoes
August 24 – weight 147 (15 pounds lost) – New everyday dishes
September 24 – weight 142 (20 pounds lost) – New Jeans
October 24 – weight 137 (25 pounds lost) – reach goal weight – new skirt suit
So anyway this is my plan, and I’m going to need to stick with it. Wish me luck, and thanks for your support.
