Healthy Choices

Saturday, May 22, 2010

My husband and I spent most of yesterday going to garage sales. Around 1 PM, he announced that he was hungry and why didn't we stop at one of our favorite restaurants. This restaurant makes all of its own breads and desserts. It is as close to an old-fashioned diner as we have seen. Now, in the past, I would have ordered the typical lunch special which often included lots of bread and sometimes even mashed potatoes and gravy!!! I have become much smarter in my choices and often look at the chilren's menu or the Senior and lighter choices part. Yesterday, I chose their special HALF-LUNCH. I had an egg salad sandwich on whole-wheat bread (a half of a sandwich), a half-cup of Bean and Ham Soup and a half a Chocolate Chip Cookie (I split it with my husband). My beverage choice was water. Total calories: 323. I was full and proud of my choices.

I've never heard of a restaurant offering this "size" meal. What a great idea! Good for you on making a wonderful choice! You had the best of both worlds!

You are getting smarter, didn't think you could get any smarter. Sounds like it was a great lunch. Guess thinking ahead makes us feel so much better later. Plus you must have been doing a lot of walking at the sales.
