Moving forward

I have had many ups and downs since joining. I continued not to lose weight. Although I would track my food intake throughout the day, I found that shortly after dinner all bets were off, and of course I never tracked the food that I had not previously accounted for that day. Also, forget about exercise or activities. My primary activity was making up excuses for why I did not exercise, which apparently was not a good weight control strategy. What I did do fairly consistently was check in on an almost daily basis, read other blogs, read recipes, comment on recipes, and try out many recipes. I have never been known as a very good cook, but hubby noticed that he enjoyed the recipes I was trying, and proclaimed that I have become an excellent cook. A few weeks ago we went on vacation, and I told him that I was not happy at my current weight. He told me that he could stand to lose his belly. We agreed to work on weight control together. He chooses to work on his weight control, by not eating during the day and then eat dinner and snack throughout the evening. I on the other hand, chose to continue tracking food to the best of my ability, and eat regular meals throughout the day. We both agreed to walk daily. So far, we are walking together, but we have not reached the daily walking goal, as of yet. So, I am feeling more positive about what I am doing now, and when I checked in with the doctor a week and half ago, I found that finally I have lost 5 pounds!!

    Wow! That's AWESOME news about losing your first 5 pounds! Congratulations!

Set a small (obtainable) goal...like walking for 15 minutes one direction then turn around and walk back. That would probably equate to a mile! Start doing that a few times a week. Having a walking partner helps the time pass. before you realize it you are walking for an hour!

You are doing great!
