Birthday Countdown: 20 Days to reach 199 lbs goal weight

Yesterday was a really exciting day for me because of all of the wonderful comments people made on my progress blog/photos. Thanks to everyone for your kind comments. I feel so honored that one person actually chose to post my photo on their refrigerator for motivational purposes. I don稚 think anyone has ever done that before! Thanks Spark Friends!

So far my birthday countdown as a motivator is working. Only 20 days left. It really helps to have a short term goal. I don稚 feel so overwhelmed anymore. One thing that also is helping me allot is eating a grapefruit after dinner. It seems to kill any and all cravings. And since it痴 that time of year, I have a plentiful supply of free organic Tucson grown grapefruit!

I was going to do a two day birthday hike but because of my arm probably wont be able to do so. I知 trying to avoid the birthday dinner/cake thing. I wanted to celebrate my birthday with a healthy hike and healthy food and perhaps some time to contemplate life. Anyone have any ideas?

I got rid of three kitchen trash bags of clothing yesterday. That included all of my much too big underwear. Now I知 wearing mediums. Next month will be bra month. Someone told me that Target is the place for bra shopping and that Consumer Guide, or a similar source, rated them equally good as more expensive name brands. So I will give it a try. I actually can move my clothes into the dressers in the closet now! I知 thrilled! I値l have so much more room. I知 not done yet, but it was a good start on getting the closet organized.

Finally getting back on here to see what all is going on! It has been a long, bumpy month. How are you doing these days? We have been back a couple of weeks, and things have been so busy that I thought it was Tuesday, in stead of Thursday, all day yesterday! Yikes!
Your pictures are absolutely wonderful. I hope that you are enjoying every day.
So glad to be back on here, and to see your progress.

Hey Barb I put a picture of our new puppy to be up on spark page. She is only 4 weeks old she was born on 5-15-10 and I can't pick her up until 7-10-10. Need to find a name for her.
I am so excited. Sounds like you had a really great time on your hike and a healthy picnic also. Did you go in a group or with your friend. Take care Hugs

I have been so busy getting my spring cleaning finished, but I finally did today and then tomorrow I will just finish my normal house cleaning. Do some laundry tomorrow or Saturday.
My sister is coming home on the 19th of June again and this way I will get a little rest before then. Take care and have a great day and weekend. Hugs

I haven't checked in with you for a while--I'm so sorry!

I agree, short term goals make all the difference. I decided that for now I'd focus on getting to 100 pounds lost (18 pounds to go). That seems pretty tangible to me. I don't have a "deadline" for it, but just having that to build towards instead of just "goal weight" feels really doable. You're SUPER close to your goal already, so I have no doubts you'll get there in the next three weeks.

Feels SO good to purge the old stuff, doesn't it? I'm glad you've gotten to do that and are enjoying shopping for some new things!

What great ideas. Going on a retreat or to a healthy type spa that encourages healthy exercise, eating etc. All great ideas. Looking for something a little lower cost. What i do on my birthday is do all of my favorite things. Go for a hike. go shopping and buy myself something healthy, something nice to wear or get your hair done in a new style. surround yourself with the people you love, family and friends and just enjoy!
You are doing so awesome. I just know you will get to your goal and past it in time for your birthday. kim emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I am so proud of you!!! Isn't it so freeing to get rid of clothes that no longer flatter you (and them falling off isn't a flattering look for any of us - I was always so worried I'd lose my drawers at work. Not a fun thing! LOL!)

And you know me and my thoughts for your birthday - There's the 80/20 or 90/10 rule (depending on how focused you are right now) where 80 or 90% of the time, you eat according to your chosen plan, you exercise according to your plan, and the other 10-20% is time to relax, enjoy and savor. If you truly don't want something sweet and indulgent to celebrate the day of your birth - cake, ice cream, what ever - that's totally your choice. But if you think it's not something that's part of a 'healthy lifestyle', that's really far from the truth. It's part of the 10%, and have faith that you can enjoy the moment and go back to your 90% way immediately afterwards!

And be picky! if you have cake, don't settle for run of the mill store made cake, make it something special - homemade, or from really a good bakery - for my birthday we went to Nadine's and the hubby got me a petit four (a small square of cake, about 2 bites, that is covered in a chocolate frosting. Num! and just the right size) and we got a slice of some decadent layer cake to split (love that they sell slices!) If it's ice cream, splurge on a small cup from Cold Stone. You get the idea.

If you decide that it's just not for you, no worries - I'm thinking a cook out with chicken & veggie kabobs, roasted veggies as a side (corn on the cob and potatoes are tasty on the grill!) and maybe some grilled fruit - pineapple rings don't need any help, but peaches or pears cut in half , brushed with a little oil & honey and grilled - NUM-O!!!

Enjoy this leg of the journey and I can't wait to hear what your next goal will be.

Tonight I felt like snacking and when I saw two legs in one I got a glass of ice chips and went back into the room and munched on ice chips and I was fine. Have you ever thought of going on a retreat. There are all kinds of retreats from religious to just really going some place to just stop and smell the roses and take the time to get to know the new your and reflect on all the things you have accomplished and how you have changed your life. I went on a retreat a few years ago infact my daughter and I went we ate meals together, but we mostly would walk the trails and look at all the beautiful surroundings and do a lot of reflecting. I was so relaxed it was unreal. Once you get your arm back then you can go on a big hike. So many things have changed in your life of lately and you have so much to feel good about. That may be a dumb idea but I really enjoyed it even though I fought tooth and dagger about going. I would like to go again this year if I get a chance. Have a great day and I think you are really getting into the step thing. Did you every think of looking on Amazon for those DVD's, Have a great Friday. Hugs to you and Flea.

Dessert: Cooked apples (just peel them, add a little lemon juice and water, cook them down until they are soft, talk about amazing!)

Enjoy a nice sunset with flea by your side and the birds as background music. (maybe have a good book handy).

    Dessert:
Homemade fruit sorbet! (don't ask me how...)

Luxory gift: massage/hot tub and quiet time in a beautiful setting (any hot springs/oasis' nearby?)

Anyway, I am sure that you have a lot to celebrate for your birthday.
