Scared myself silly today (Rapid heart Beat)

Monday, May 17, 2010

Ok I have come back with a vengeance, well, that may have been too much.

I started my eating clean, and exercise on May 11th. I had been sedentary for over a year, since I lost my job. I used to walk miles every day as a retail manager. Then it stopped.

Today I experienced a rapid heart beat, that lasted for over 5 to 10 minutes. I was so terrified
as to whether, I needed to go to the ER. It subsided, but left me traumatized. I tried to figure
out why. A friend said, with the changes I have made, including becoming a vegetarian, my system is working out all the impurities, and adjusting. That makes sense, but this scared me bad. And I actually woke up from a nap with this, odd enough.

I already have High Blood Pressure, and I am on medications for that. I am working on losing weight, I am changing my* lifestyle. I do not drink, or smoke (never did smoke) I drank when I was younger, but not all that often or that much, never did care for the taste of alcohol. So this makes absolutely no sense to me. And my weight isn't all that bad, I need to lose 30 or so more lbs.

Is my system actually adjusting? Let me know if any of you have had stuff like this happen to you as your trying to become healthy. And did it eventually adjust itself?

* By changing my lifestyle, mainly cutting out sugars, most fats, refined processed foods, no meat.

Go to the doc, it is not something you should ignore.

Never mess around with your heart. See your doctor. He may have you wear a Holter monitor to watch your heart beat for 24 hours and be able to give you more specific feedback!

I would see a doctor just to be sure and not regret not going. My guess is your change in diet and exercise.

Changing your lifestyle and diet can cause changes i n your electrolytes - and that can cause racing heart rates. There are many factors that should be checked out by your doctor - it may be menopause, stress, a panic attack, or something really serious. emoticon

Definitely check in with your doctor. Your body may be adjusting, but something like a racing heart is NOT something you want to handle on anecdotal evidence!

I would say that if you can talk to a doctor, you should. I know that sometimes that is what an anxiety or panic attack feels like! Are you stressed?

First of all, how OLD are you? If you are in menopause the symptom is that of rapid heart beat. I remember Oprah saying it happened to her. It happened to me too, at night. Oprah's doctor said menopause. Oprah is my age (56) but I started w/ symptoms as early as 44.
