What happens when you have a baby...

Or rather what happened to me. When I was last active on this site I was wearing a size 4. I got pregnant in January of '09 and had my baby in September. I ended up gaining about 70 pounds and losing some of my self esteem as the weight was gaining.

I really planned to not gain anymore than I needed to for the baby but something seems to happen when I am pregnant. I become ravenous and super tired. A bit like downright lazy. I didn't mean to, its just that I have trouble breathing and this was my 7th baby. Yes, that says the number seven.

When my baby was six weeks I hoped to slip back into some blue jeans. My clothing of choice. But, I ended up in maternity pants until she was about 5 months old. The size of the jeans I could finally wear was a size 16. I slowly went down to a size 14 maybe thanks to breastfeeding.

It became obvious that the weight wasn't going to hop off on its own. I had to get active and start doing what I know worked for me the last time. The great thing about learning how to lose weight AND keep it off is that if something does happen out of your control, like a pregnancy, you know how to get your body to that feel good place again.

I am happy to report that I started earnestly eating right and exercising May 4th and I am already down one jean size. I comfortably slipped on a pair of size 12 jeans just this weekend.

I know I will never be "back" to where I was before I got pregnant. This time I actually intend to be better than ever before!

    After my kids were born, I had my best bod ever. Between breasfeeding and chasing a toddler (my kids walked really early) the weight fell off. It takes us a year to gain the weight, give yourself a year to loose it. Don't wear yourself out, you have a crew needing you. Make small changes. You'll get there.
