Day 4 and Determined!

Monday, May 17, 2010

After auditioning to be on the Biggest Loser TV show and not being chosen, I was really bummed. Bummed enough to gain another 6 lbs. After really looking at myself naked in a full length mirror, I decided that enough was enough. I could keep going the way I am going or decide to make a permanent change once and for all. I am sick of internally comparing my body to my friend's seemingly perfect bodies. The only person that can change my outward appearance is me. So now I am on Day 4 of the "new" me. I am loosely following the Biggest Loser book 30 Day Jumpstart, substituting recipes that I like when faced with a recipe that doesn't appeal to me (anything with mushrooms or lentils!!). I have owned a Wii console for over a yr and have only used it a handful of times but enjoyed it when it used it so I bought the Wii Fit. My goal is to log all my food and exercise in using SP. I would like to lose 2 lbs per week. Based on that goal, I will be down to my goal weight by August 11, 2011. This seems so far away but I will keep reminding myself that I didn't gain the weight quickly so I can't expect to lose it and keep it off permanently if I lose it quickly. I have decided not to join any of the challenges from SP because it is difficult to work a 12 hr shift, workout, sleep and post daily. And I don't want to dissappoint myself or my team members when I drop out due to my schedule. Fortunately, I have a best friend that will hold me accountable and supportive co workers that will do the same. One day at a time and it will quickly be Aug. 11, 2011 and I will be at 150 lbs......

Thank you all for the support! I really appreciate it.

Cecelia--I will think about coming back to the 30 something's. Like I said in my blog, it is tough to keep up with the challenges with my cazy work schedule.

EvilKlown, Shipesta, and Mr. Under 300---Congrats on losing so much weight. It just goes to show that eating healthy and living right makes a positive difference. I am excited for the day when I can make such a great claim :)

    Thanks again!!!

Making changes in your life is always hard. One thing I learned is that you cannot "diet" and be successful. It has to be a lifestyle change. I have lost 43 pounds and it is because of this mentality. You can do it!

Oh, and I have found the challenges are a great way to stay motivated. I am much more successful during them than I am between challenges. When you feel you are ready, it would be great to have you join us for one.

You can do it, you found a great place for support. Let us know if you have questions. I felt like you do, but I am down 77lbs in 33 weeks. If I can do it, then so can you.

You can definitely do this! I steadily have gained for the last 18 years - and it got to the point where I was disgusted with all time low for me mentally and physically - and in January I said "ENOUGH" and decided to get healthy! I'm proud to say I have lost 48 pounds in 4 1/2 months...and I'm consistently losing each week - 1 pound 2 pounds, some weeks a little more, some a little less, but EVERY week has been a loss because I have been faithful to the program and kept the cheating to a minimum and the exercise and hard work to a maximum. Set your mind and heart to it and I KNOW you can do this. I'll be right here beside you to help if you'd like!

Looks like we started at about the same weight.

The day I started at Spark I used the nutrition tracker. I've used it every day since then. It works!! Good luck to you!

Rejection is hard. We all get rejected for a lot of things, big and small. And although you went through a small setback, you can get back on the right track! Slow and steady wins the race :) good luck.
