Getting Older

I haven't written a blog in a long time! I haven't wanted to continue to bemoan the things that are continuing to go wrong in my life right now. But I do have things that are going right, so I will try to concentrate on them. One of the great things that happened recently was my fun birthday!

My 27th birthday was on Wednesday and I had a blast. I got to hang out with my best friend and my husband who are my two favorite people in the entire world. We started with a great lunch at my favorite restaurant.

This place is seriously awesome. A huge selection of prepared salads, lettuces, and toppings beyond my imagination.

I tried to get a picture, but this can’t even begin to explain the assembly line of veggies, beans, nuts, seeds, dressings, etc. etc.

Since you go through the salad line once, I always grab two plates and pile them high.

My best friend’s salad turned out so pretty she let me take a picture of hers too.

The bean salad was the best. It had pinto, black, and garbanzo beans in a cilantro dressing. Absolutely amazing. I also had some cheesy bread on the side. I looked through the line of soups, but none jumped out at me. The pastas taste too salty to me, so I usually skip those. And the baked potato bar! So many toppings. I didn’t get one this time, but after we had left I really wished I had!

Then I had dessert. Well phase one of dessert. Their low-fat frozen yogurt is so creamy. Topped with some caramel and Oreos it is so good!

I also crumbled some of this chocolate muffin on top.

After we ate we stopped by my mom’s bookstore so I could see her, my step-dad, my grandpa and my uncle. They decided it would be fun to sing happy birthday to me…LOUDLY. Hey, isn’t this a place of business? Crazy family…

They have a friendly squirrel that hangs out because they continue to feed it!

It was then time to go to Bullwinkle’s for arcade games, go-karts, and miniature golf. We also took a dangerous turn at DDR. Although we’re okay now, I learned one must wear the proper attire!

So no shoes that can come flying off or flare pant legs that can be tripped over. Then again, we’re not very coordinated, so maybe Aubrey and I would have stunk either way.

We all headed back to our place to watch Glee, which had a great episode this week!

Although I was disappointed that my birthday was ignored yet again by a certain family member of mine, I think I might have come to terms with the fact. There’s nothing I can do about it, so I choose to not let it get to me.

I have been trying some new recipes lately, so I will definitely have to post again soon to share. I hope you all have had a great week and are gearing up for a fun weekend. It is SO nice in my town right now. How’s the weather where you are?

Seriously... Sweet Tomato's is like my all time favorite as well! It's a vegetarians dream come true, LOL! I love that they put out signs letting you know what is vegetarian and what is not. It's amazing how many soups you'd think would be vegetarian that are not. They had a tomato soup once that said non-vegetarian.. and as much as I was bummed that I couldn't eat it- I was very appreciative that they let me know :)

P.S. My birthday was on Thursday... have we discussed before how close our birthdays are? Probably.. but that is funny! :)

There will always be some people in our lives who aren't supportive, but isn't it great to have so many who are? Sounds like a great day!
