I just finished week 3 of couch to 5k and things are going pretty good. Jogging really sucks and I have not gotten to the point where I enjoy it but I have been taking a 30 minute walk after Im done with my walking/jogging intraval and I have really been enjoying that. If I dont keep up with the jogging after the 5k I will definately still try to get out for walking because its really enjoyable to be able to sink into my own little world and have some me time.
When I started I was doing 1 minute of walking and 30 seconds of jogging for 30 minutes..... This past week I was Jogging for 2 minutes and walking for 1 minute for 30 minutes. I have made some progress so hopefully in the next 2 weeks I will get to where I can jog for quite a bit longer. Im thinking that I will be able to make pretty good time on the 5k if I can run at least half of it so thats what Im shooting for.
The last 3 weeks my weight loss has been great!!! I have lost almost the same amount in the last month that I had lost from Jan - april if that gives you any idea how much my weight loss has sped up. I started out this year at 200 pounds and this time last month I weighed 191 pounds. I now weigh 184 pounds.
I think 2 things are really contributing to my weight loss and one of thouse two things is the intraval jogging. Its alot more intense than the exercise videos I was doing plus its high impact. It makes me want to keep it up just because of how good my weight loss has been.
The other thing that is really helping me I think is keeping track of my food with pictures. I eat alot less, eat more vegetables and do alot less nibbling. I think I was eating way more calories before than I realized because I nibbled alot! Im doing pretty much no nibbling now because I know I will have to take a picture of it and put it in my photo food blog.... When I have alot of pictures of this and that and they look not too healthy I feel bad when i look back at it so now I dont do it. It makes me think instead of mindlessly poping things in my mouth.
My current weight loss goal was to be at 180 by mid june. Thats when the pound for pound challenge ends and back in january I pledged to lose 20 pounds. I was off track with that for a little while and dident think I was going to make it. Im back on my line now though..... I use fitday.com and they have goal tracking that lets you see your current weight compared to where your weight needs to be to reach your goal by a certain time. Its great and I keep it pasted on the desktop of my computer to keep me motivated.
My body is really starting to change now... Hips are starting to shrink, belly shrinking, back rolls going away & my butt shelf (that area of fat right above your ass that if you get really huge looks like a shelf) is almost non-existant... its all back now! I have never seen me without these things, even when I was a little kid... I have always had the same basic body shape (minus the stretch marks and loose skin) ... This is a really exciting time for me.
Yesterday durring my workout I actually wore a size medium workout top, wow a medium!
