Ok, so very quick blog this morning because I feel like venting.
Hypersensitivity vasculitis is incredibly annoying. I am the spotted woman. I find I don't even want to go to the Y, because I am afraid people will see me and think I have something contagious! I have no idea when these red dots all over my skin will go away or what caused them in the first place! The doc just gave me a broad list of foods and medicines to avoid for the next two weeks and then add back one week at a time hoping to find out...by what? Trial and error?
Ugh, 50% of the time, he said the cause is never identified, just goes away and maybe pops up again in a few years. Great...just great!
Then I find myself wondering if my doctor made a misdiagnosis. Happens on House all the time. So maybe I will get a second opinion to be on the safe side.
On a good note, since I decided not to go to the Y yesterday, I took Cricket (our 8 month springer spaniel) on her first walk/run with me. Haven't been running in at least 6 months since I injured my ankle last year. After my initial warm up, I settled into an easy pace of 2 min run/1 min walk. It felt really good to be running again and I think having Cricket with me even motivated me to set a faster pace than when I run alone. At the 37 minute mark, my ankle started hurting just a tiny bit, so I headed home at an easy walk. I paid close attention to my gait on the way back and have determined I have slight overpronation, but left foot only (the one that has a tendency to get injured). My running shoes are neutral cushion, so wondering if I need to replace with a stability shoe or just add some arch support.
