As most of my SP friends know, I have been battling a long battle I have had for years and years, starting with my sugar bowl treks to the top of the cabinets (that's where my Mother hid it) I was 3.
I have fought the sugar bug for a very long time. And this last year Sparkpeople helped me manage it over 6 months, no sugar, I was so stoked. Then the "Holidays" It broke me down, and I managed to put on half of the weight I had lost in that 6 mos. time.
I was reading a fellow SP friends blog, that fat cells, shrink, and lay in wait, for you to fill them up again. They do NOT go away. They are hibernating, waiting for us to make that fatal choice to rehydrate them to their magnificent fat selves, plus some.
I always said, I cannot take that small bite, slice or just one, that doesn't work for me. It triggers my sugar bug to fly about, and fill up the happily awaiting fat globules. Or goblins however you look at it.
Anyway its been 1 year, and my journey resumes, no sugar.

I think I read the same blog about fat cells. So interesting!

Best of luck in your battle against sugar. That's not an easy addiction to kick. It's in everything! There's no way I could eliminate it from my life (and don't want to either), so I'm working on moderating my servings.

I love the title of this blog, haha!

I try not to take in a lot of overprocessed sugars but I do have a sweet tooth I can't get rid of, so I do things sparingly. I do love frozen berries as a treat, though.

A lot of 'junky' sugars are TOO sugary for me now and actually disgust me (like yellow cake with white sugar icing -- blech!) so I am happier with the natural fruit sugars or even a little dark chocolate once in awhile. I do like my non-dairy ice cream, too!

Good luck! Beat down those goblins!

I too am a sugar addict, But can't quit. I keep it in check most of the time, but enjoy some cookies, candy or ice cream sundae once in awhile. Otherwise I set myself up for a huge fall.

Best wishes in kicking your habit.
