A Different Kind of Thanksgiving

Friday, November 24, 2006

This Thanksgiving was a littlw different for me. My best friend could not join me this year due to the fact that she has breast cancer. This is the first time in many years that I did not share thanksgiving with her. We live in two different states. She couldn't make the travel beacause of all the doctor appointments and her being tired. I am used to preparing a big meal for my family and friends. This year I had Thanksgiving lunch at my daughters. She is a vegetarian. She made shrimp and corn, pasta salad with shrimp, salmon. Alaskan crab legs. My baby grandaughter called me this moring and asked if I could make macaroni and cheese. My oldest grandaughter had reqested candied yams. Both of their wishes were granted. We (the family) proceeded to another destination. We went over to my oldest sister's home. Her daughter, my niece cooked for Thanksgiving. She made alot of really delicious items. I didn't really eat, I just kind of tasted and brought home a plate with me to enjoy later. I didn't want to really go too overboard. Idid cook a turkey today, and I decided that I would cook the rest of my food tomorrow. Folks will be coming over to partake of the meal. Actually, when I think about it, it has been a less stressful day and full of many blessings. I am so thatnkful for all the many blessings that God bestows upon me every day. Even though I couldn't be around everyone that I would have like to be around, I was able to talk to everyone. There are some folks who have lost love ones. there are some folks who are all by themselves. I am so thankful that that's not the case for me this year. I am just so thankful, even though it was a different kind of Thanksgiving.
