I have retired for the second time...

Just to update you on my progress, I gave up sweets and desserts during the first week of January of this year. On March 1st, I gave up fried foods (deep fryer stuff).

On the strength training side of things, I work out the same muscle group twice a day. I rotate the muscle groups, but only work out Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri. Wednesday is reserved for ballroom dance lessons. I am also jogging 3 days a week, adding a minute every time I jog until I get to an hour where I will just maintain that hour three days a week. I am a big, slow train right now, my mile times are just over 13 minutes. I am thinking the times will get better as I lose weight.

I am 6' tall and weighing in at 215 pounds. This is where I am on May 10, 2010.

I am cutting the carbs just a little and I still enjoy my beer, wine and occasional Jack and Diet Coke.

My wife thinks I am obsessive about my eating, running and strength training. I call it commitment. My goal is continue breathing for as long as I can in a healthy body.

Right now, I do not need meds, only see a doctor for physicals and in pretty decent shape. Spark and the friends I have made in Spark continue to motivate me even though I get busy and don't always post.

I will check my weight at the end of the month. Until then, Gold Bless all of you and keep you safe!

    Jer,
It seems like a while since I've been over here! On May 10th (when you wrote this blog), I was obsessing myself on my impending retirement.

That said, to your blog, we may "seem" obsessed with eating/ exercising, but it's just our way of creating a new habit.

Once it's ingrained (spelling?) it won't seem like an obsession to your wife. (I have to assume she doesn't have a weight issue, good for her!)

I see you are only 2 lbs away from goal. WTG! You are doing FANTASTIC (obsessions aside)

BTW, how's the weight loss affecting the swing?

Sounds like you're doing great!!! My family sometimes think I'm obsessive about my workouts and food choices but like you I'm not on meds and am very healthy and happy! I keep having to convince them it is my lifestyle change and to just get used to it and join me if you want to feel better too! Small changes at a time lead to life changes permanently! Kudos for the healthy new you!!! emoticon emoticon
