I have retired for the second time...
Just to update you on my progress, I gave up sweets and desserts during the first week of January of this year. On March 1st, I gave up fried foods (deep fryer stuff).
On the strength training side of things, I work out the same muscle group twice a day. I rotate the muscle groups, but only work out Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri. Wednesday is reserved for ballroom dance lessons. I am also jogging 3 days a week, adding a minute every time I jog until I get to an hour where I will just maintain that hour three days a week. I am a big, slow train right now, my mile times are just over 13 minutes. I am thinking the times will get better as I lose weight.
I am 6' tall and weighing in at 215 pounds. This is where I am on May 10, 2010.
I am cutting the carbs just a little and I still enjoy my beer, wine and occasional Jack and Diet Coke.
My wife thinks I am obsessive about my eating, running and strength training. I call it commitment. My goal is continue breathing for as long as I can in a healthy body.
Right now, I do not need meds, only see a doctor for physicals and in pretty decent shape. Spark and the friends I have made in Spark continue to motivate me even though I get busy and don't always post.
