Body Bugg

Monday, May 10, 2010

Okay, so, I decided if I was really being "serious" about my weight loss efforts, I would need to know how many calories a day I am burning. I mean, I go on the elliptical and put in my weight and age and it tells me that I'm burning 700ish calories an hour and when I put in in here, it says I'm burning almost twice that. Which is right? It's a big difference when you are working out 3-5 days a week! What if what I think I'm burning isn't what I'm actually burning? It will make me set goals to reach. We'll see how it works.

I must admit, I don't think I was ready for the Bugg before today (or at least recently). I think I would have watched it, trying to figure out how to do the least amount of exercise or anything to get the most amount of calories burned. I would have watch the readout and figured, "hey, I can eat x# of calories more".

But since I've been part of SP, I've grown. I have learned how to eat, how to pair foods together so that I'm not starving an hour after eating, how many calories I should be getting from fat, protein, and carbohydrates and (most of all) identifying my emotional triggers that make me eat. I'm not perfect, I still slip up a lot but I'm so much more aware when I do.

I think that this is the perfect tool for me right now. I can't wait until it comes in!

I really wanted a body bugg until I found out about the Fit Bit. It's only $99 and does the same things as the bugg. Good luck. I hope it works out for you. =)

awesome! I've been wanting a Body Bugg as well...for all the same reasons you mentioned. I def hate how the elliptical says your burned "x" amount of calories and then on here it says you burned wayyyy more! I need an accurate reading! The only reason I haven't invested in the Body Bugg is because I don't want to pay the monthly fee to use it. I'd rather have a device that simply tells me the #of cals burned....So i think I'm going to go the Polar route... Let me know how the Bugg works out for you!

Have you had your resting metabolic rate tested? I took the plunge and had that and my Body Composition tested before I came to SP to see what I was up against. The RMR was a real eye opener, because to maintain this glorious, morbidly obese physique of mine, I learned I need to ingest about 3200 calories a day! Since I have no desire to maintain this fabulous temple to emotional eating, fast food and a true love of the finer cuisines (and I ain't talking Lean ones here).

I'm interested in hearing how your Body Bugg experience goes. I've found that I love to get the gadgets, but then I stop using them after the shiny wears off.

I am interested in how well it works out for you! I have looked at them in the past but like you wasn't sure if I was ready for it yet.

Ordered the BodyMedia last week--I track my calories burn via HRM, which *should* be fairly accurate. It has my specs and is strapped to my CHEST the whole time, ya know?

Like you, I've grown. I *hate* the idea of such an expensive device -- which is no guarantee it's correct; it's still an estimation! I hate paying a subscription. I hate changing from my normal way of tracking (Edibles software) to theirs, etc. but...

I want more accuracy. I *want* the truth!

Sounds like we're about in the same spot there!

Good luck!

i have one, it is great. I really appreciate seeing that calorie in/out balance every day. The food log is super easy, but not quite as easy as the one here. It took me a few days, but now I can do my food log pretty fast. Good luck!
