Happy Mother's Day to All!

Sunday, May 09, 2010

this is of my daughter and me a year ago, before we joined up with Spark People.com. A lot of weight has disappeared since then for both of us!

We were on our annual Mommy and Me trip last year. We went to the Caribbean and had a wonderful time.

Daughter lives in Massachusetts; I live in Washington state. All the more reason to plan these wonderful, healing trips!

This year, on May 23, we will be going to Las Vegas. One thing on our planned vacation is to hike Red Rock. We are really looking forward to that.

These are the shoes I will take to Vegas.

This is DH, whom I will have a break from.

This is the family Bossy Daugter will escape from.

this is the house I won't have to clean.

These are the cats I won't have to clean up after.

This is the dog I won't have to walk whether I feel like it or not.

Why am I posting all this TODAY???

Because it is Mother's Day, and I am allowed to look forward to whatever thoughts make me happy.

I love my family, home and critters. But sometimes, it is a happy thought just thinking about getting away from all of them.

If you have a daughter, and have not begun going on Mommy and Me trips yet, please, for yourself................DO IT!!!! You will never understand just how wonderful your relationship will become as a result until you do it.

Sure, it is expensive, and we need to plan and save for it for a whole year. But you know what is MORE expensive??

Today is Mother's Day. Make a commitment that you will never look back from this day forward with regret. Get planning, Moms!! go someplace where neither of you have ever been, and find adventure.

You'll love me for it...........PROMISE!

I love the red shoes! Where did you find them? I enjoy the time Darcey and I get to spend together. She lives 10 seconds away. lol I have another DD but she and I aren't close anymore. Personal reasons. I lost my oldest DD in 04 and the last fun thing we did together is we went to Reno in 04. My mom passed away in 04 and her and I had a love/hate relationship but I made peace with her before it was too late. So good for you doing the mother/daughter trips together. Happy Mother's Day to you. emoticon emoticon

I lost my mom when I was 22 and not yet made peace with how great a woman and mother she was. This is one of my biggest regrets in my life and I nothing I do can change it.

You are so right that mothers and daughters should be close and spend time together because life is too short and uncertain.

You are absolutely entitled to look forward to whatever thoughts make you happy! Great advice; my daughter is only an hour away but we still need to plan a Mom/Daughter trip for ourselves. We appreciate hubby, home, and pets all the more for having a little break away--and they all appreciate us, too! Happy Mother's Day!!

Aw, this is so sweet! Perhaps I can do the mommy and me thing with my daughter in law since my mom is gone too, many many years. It is wonderful that you get to do this with your daughter. It is awesome. Have fun. I love the red shoes! Where did you get them!! I want red sneakers too!
    Happy Mother's day, friend!

I love your blog. My daughter and 2 grandkids are 2,000 miles away, and I lost my Mom when I was 20. I must agree with you - do those Mom/Daughter trips and things when you can. Mother's Day alone can be difficult and sad.

Oh - Is that a Golden Retriever? I had a Golden, too, years ago. I miss her, too. Yours is beautiful!
