Perspective has a funny way of changing when you don't keep a close eye on it.
It was just a bit over a year ago, in March when I signed up for Sparkpeople. As I explored the site, I found the Sparkpages written by those who had already found success within the program. As I noted their weight loss accomplishments and current weight and fitness conditions, I couldn't help but wonder "what are they doing here in Sparkpeople?" After all, it is supposed to be for people working to lose weight and maybe even get fit. I felt these successful people were intruding on a site meant for us imperfect people.
Here I am , actually a year and two months later; I've not only met my weight goal but crushed it. I went from 174 in January '09 past my goal of 142 to my present weight of 126 pounds. I've lost almost 50 pounds! On top of that, I started running again. I had gotten almost bitter, thinking I was too old at 56 years old to ever run again. I started running last June when my dog Tanner, couldn't keep up on our walks in the afternoon. I invite you to read my blog, "Speed Bump".
What a difference this past year has made; I've gon from "stocky" to downright skinny. I am running every day and really loving it! I ran 93 miles in April! I am probably one of those disgusting people a new member would notice and ask why am I on Sparkpeople.
Well, that's the funny thing about perspective.
Sparkpeople is here for all of us. It helped me to lose the weight and regain a fit lifestyle. It will help me to maintain my success.
If I can help to motivate someone on his or her particular Spark-journey; that would be a definite plus!
