Today I got my heart rate monitor in the mail. I was so excited to be able to find out how many calories it would say I burned doing my Zumba class. So after playing around with it to figure out how to set it, I put it on and went to my class. I have generally used the High Impact Aerobics for 60 minutes to calculate my calories when I take a class. It is usually 350 or so calories burned. My heart rate monitor showed that I had burned 514 calories.
I couldn't believe it. I had heard you could burn 500 or more calories doing Zumba. I plan to keep wearing the monitor and to track my walking calories and other exercises to see what I burn.
