Went for the pulmonary function test first thing. Wasn't bad at all, except I almost asphyxiated when she turned the air off in the chamber & started to take big gulps (not trying, just did) and she kept saying "short puffs, short puffs". Then the one where you breath in real deep then exhale until you are blue in the face and she kept saying "keep going, keep going". But I was the first appointment and was in and out in a very short time.

When I got home, my BIL was waiting to take me to the MRI. He did leave his place quite early and we got to the lab almost an hour early. The problem was they made me wait for the machine because the person in front of me decided she was claustrophobic and needed the larger machine. So I had to wait until they finished with her even though I was booked for the large machine (I thought) So We didn't get out of there until after 12:30. My poor BIL was so wiped by the time he got home, he couldn't remember any of the service calls he was supposed to do during the afternoon.

I also went to see a diabetes dietician this afternoon. She had some material that was similar to but not exactly the same as the old exchange diet. As I was sitting at the bus stop, I was looking at this pamphlet and noticed:

"At each Meal and Snack"

Meal 3 - 4 choices 45-60 mg carb
Snack 1 - 2 choices 15-30 mg carb

"Over the Day"

Carb total 13-18 choices 195-170 gm carb

Protein Limit to 5-7 choices per day

Fat Limit to 5 - 6 choices per day / 25 - 30 gm fat.

She says I don't eat enough carbs and I eat too much protein. Well if I was to eat even 13 choices in a day, I would be in a perpetual coma! Really, my body does not tolerate carbs very well. They cause my bs to soar.

So I am not really sure what I should do and where to go from here.

I am having a lot of problems with the site today (started last night), very few of the graphics and almost none of the ID avatars are coming through. When I hit reply, I have to click the spot by memory because I can't see the button - just an x. Last night I was trying to give out some team goodies but could not find that button either. That was fun! Whatever the problem is, it is affecting most Canadians on the site. But the techs are working on it and hopefully will figure it out soon. Ahhh the joys of modern technology!

    You had a busy day!!

I have had a few of those tests. We had a free PT test recently. I passed. I hate MRI's. they all give me claustrophobia.

Everyone who sees a dietitian gets the exact same diet. Mine almost killed me as it made my hypoglycemia worse. It's too many carbs. You need to do Atkins or Protein Power. The 30-Day Low carb Diet Solution is easy and great.
