I lost 10 pounds !

Thursday, April 29, 2010

I celebrated my 1 Year Sparkversary on April 9, 2010 !
I've been enjoying belonging to SparkPeople, and interacting with
my Spark-friends . I also enjoyed discovering " my " sport , which
turns out to be swimming . Swimming wins out, because it is always
cool in the Pool ! With my MS , I sometimes have trouble walking ,
because I get over-heated...! But that doesn't happen with swimming .
My stints in the Pool are always over an hour and a half . I believe that
it was this lengthy swim that helped reduce my high cholesterol .
My swim is not geared around the clock ; rather , it is always exactly
60 lengths of my Pool , which is 1 kilometer . I chose this distance when
I was completing the Olympic Torch Relay Challenge, which started last
November. I wanted to be able to at least contribute a kilometer to the
tally . I changed my 50 length swim( only 0.884 kilometer) to a 60 length
swim , for that reason .

But I digress !
I should be focusing my discussion on my loss of 10 pounds.
I guess I'm not that excited any more , because I still have 40 more to go .
I know that will come in due time , if I keep exercising , and eating mindfully !

Great job! Happy 1 year sparkiversary. Very cool that you found "your' sport. I don't like to get in the pool all that often because the chlorine bothers me and the whole getting in the swimsuit and then getting out of it thing just takes forever. :)

You must celebrate losing those 10 lbs.! Every step on this new healthy lifestyle journey is important, enjoy each new level.
So happy you have a pool close at hand to help you reach the next level. I will be walking around that pool cheering you on your 60 laps (I don't swim, I walk).

Whoo hoo! 10 lbs is awesome!

Have fun swimming! It's a great work out, and fun! I can't wait for our pool to open here.

Though if you are interested in being able to walk or other activities, I have a friend with MS and she has the same issue that you do, but she has this thing--I can ask her what it's called and where she got it--that is essentially a vest with ice packs that helps keep her cool. With this, she can even do some heavy weapons fighting (think sword fighting in armor, only with ratan swords instead of steel ones) in the summer here. She still has to be more careful than most people, but it lets her do a lot of things she wouldn't otherwise be able to do.
