Cookbooks and Recipes

Monday, April 26, 2010

I am an avid cookbook collector -- have been collecting them for over 30 years. My husband said to me recently: 'But you don't cook! Why do you have all those cookbooks? You should get rid of them!"

To which I replied: "I get ideas out of each of the cookbooks that I have." And as I said that I started flipping through the pages of the small regional cookbook I had purchased in Sequim a few years ago at the lavender festival and promptly found at least 6 recipes that I would seriously considering using sometime.

I LOVE going to church functions or large garage sales where people have local cook books. They are so informative and have such awesome recipes in them!

One of my favourite cookbooks is from the Farm Bureau and specializes in foods that were prepared during the Depression years.

And I still have my old Betty Crocker cookbook -- the one where you had to subscribe to Good Housekeeping magazine [I think that was the magazine] so that each month you could cut out the recipes to put into it. Mine is over 40 years old. emoticon

I have a couple of staacks of them I plan on putting in my yard sale in June.

I buy almost every cookbook I see but 99.99 percent I never use. So I'm cleaning them out!

    Wanna come over? lol

I love cookbooks too, I can never resist thumbing through them in the grocery store or the bookstore.
