Well Now I've Gone & Done It...

Saturday, April 24, 2010

This week has been an interesting one filled with many twists and turns. But life has many bumps in the road, or maybe I should say our life's journey has many bumps in the road. I found myself stressed at the start of the week as I allowed something that was said upset me. I decided that instead of having a negative reaction I would accent the positive and eliminate the negative. Then midweek, I had something else happen personally and am still confused by it.

I am still focused and I am still determined to DO THIS...to DO ME! I am reading my ECD book and trying to get more information. I am planning to research the teams on Spark and one of my Sparkfriends has offered to email some info she found online. I realize that Tosca Reno is not the one who created The Eat Clean Diet (she even says as much in her book). However, I decided that I did like her approach and so I purchased her book. I shared some of the info from the book with my boss-she hates to read-and she is hopping on the bandwagon with me. My Mom is currently doing South Beach and said that after she sees me applying it, she may do the same.

I am SO excited about 2 different things. I hate checking/opening the mail. Well on Thursday I got to interesting things I opened. The first was my scorecard rewards. This shows how many points I'm awarded for the purchases I had made with my Visa Checkcard. Well I knew my program had ended but it was a recap of how many I'd accrued. I'd never claimed anything with what I did have. So here's what I picked down to the color:

I was able to get the iPod Nano 16GB! I'm so excited because there are so many cool features with this. I've never had one. I've got an iPod shuffle that a good friend gave me for my bday last year. And I do love it. I just want to be able to put more songs on and be able to see the order or change it around or customize my running. Needless to say, I'm PSYCHED! It will take 4-6 wks for me to get. I know this will be great for my workouts!

Ok that was one thing. The 2nd thing that I got in the mail was a reminder about my service award from work. I think I mentioned in a blog a couple of months ago that I went to a luncheon for having 5 years at the hospital (I've actually been there 6 yrs this July). Well somehow in my not paying attention to the mail, I missed that I need to claim my 5 year service award. So this morning I went to the site and this is what I ordered there:

I'm excited about this because 1)I have never ever been camping; emoticon 2)I want to try kayaking or white water rafting; but most importantly 3) I WANT TO LIVE & EXPERIENCE NEW THINGS! I want to take Emma outdoors and to try these new things. I'm so excited by the possibilities in my life. So even though I am not where I'd like to be on the emoticon or with my emoticon, I am not frustrated. I am living in the now, not the future. I'm so thrilled to be happy with the possibilities. I'm going to live each day to the fullest and make the most of it!

What have you gone and done? Are you living YOUR life to the fullest? Are you making time to DO YOU?!?!

LET'S DO THIS! emoticon WE ARE WORTH IT & WE DESERVE IT emoticon

Congrats on your Nano!! I even bought a car adapter for mine so I listen to it in there too!
Congrats on learning more about eating clean too! I am doing the same -- but I know my limitations and I know that I will still eat some prepackaged things just for the matter of convenience. BUT I also think that any amount of eating clean is going to be beneficial (for me and for you!!)
hugs,
Terri

Be careful with what Tosca says. I have been looking around the Clean Eating Team thinking of joining but they seem more focused on Tosca like she is some Rock Star or something. I would suggest you read some other sources as well.

I may not always comment but I have read your blogs. I think it will be great if you eat clean. That will mean no more prepackaged foods or nutrition bars and from your past blogs I think you mentioned these alot and the pre packaged oatmeal for breakfast. Once you get away from that bad stuff you will feel so much better. emoticon for trying emoticon

Great prizes! I love my IPOD touch...the things that can be put on it are awesome! I think it really will help you with your work outs :-) And pink is my favorite color :-)

At my bank, I get points everytime I use my check card, write a check or pay a bill online. I'm letting the points rack up. It's a continual program, but the points earned expire one year from the date you earn them. The key will be not to forget to use them before they expire!

You'll have to let me know about the ECD. I haven't read much about it at all.

Hope you're having a great weekend!

    Congrats on the prizes!

Some of my happiest memories are of when we took our girls tent camping when they were little. It was so much fun and they were so excited!

emoticon What nice things to reward yourself with! Sounds like you made good, positive choices. I hope you enjoy your new goodies and all the new things you'll be trying. Being unemployed my budget isn't allowing for rewards much now. However, I'm enjoying "not buying" right now. If I see something I think I'd like, I remind myself how much better I could spend that same amount of money or that I'm happier with that amount of money staying in the bank. It may sound odd, but it is more rewarding to me than anything I could buy right now. Thanks for making me think about this because I've been doing this for months now and didn't really appreciate it!

I got a purple Ipod Nano back at Christmastime and I still haven't loaded anything on it. At this rate, you will be able to tell me how to do it when you get yours!
