Why can't I stay motivated

Thursday, April 22, 2010

I have been trying so hard to stay focused. I want to lose weight but i just can't seem to stay focus enough. I do try to do a couple arm excercises, but that seems to be all i can fit in. This is driving me crazy. It's so easy to gain weight, but hard to take it off. To make matters worse my DR suggested i stop drinking coca-cola or caffiene in general emoticon. This is so hard, day 3 with no soda/pop emoticon

I used to drink Coke all the time. Couldn't not have it. Until I read a snippet in some French diet book...something about the chemicals and acids in the soda. Now, I don't know how accurate that statement was, but it got me to thinking about the science fair project where kids 'dissolve' their teeth in Coke. Yeah, baby teeth, but still!
Did these distract me permanently - nope. But knowing that I had been off of Coke (just to be clear - Coca Cola, full lead) for months at a time, I knew it was doable. And I am off of it again - my goodness, with the amount I have to lose and the amount of exercise it would take to work it off... It's a decision - and a good one. Not necessarily easy, but find what will do it for you.

Good luck - I've been there and I appreciate what you are going through. You can do it!

Oh my, YES! Stop drinking the pop especially!
Sometimes if you don't see any visible progress it becomes hard to stay motivated.
Take each as it comes. One workout at a time. Focus on getting through that ONE workout. Not just getting through it, but PERFECTING that workout! You will see progress! THAT will be your motivation!

Wow ! 3 days with no soda is emoticon ! Just take it slow, one step at a time and it will happen for you. It takes 21 days to start a new habit, so you are 8 days in by now. Only 13 more to go. If you need anything, motivation, information, inspiration, or just a good swift kick in the pants, just look me up. I am on here all day off and on, so don't hesitate. By the way, it was good to see you in our huddle on the Real Eating Without Compromise team today. I hope you come back and post on the threads, and join in the weekly mini challenges. ---Sherry

Going the distance is very hard for me too. I loose my focus when in my mind I am not seeing enough results. Then I have thrown in the towel and given up. I am working on making a lifestyle change-eating healthy and being more active. It sure isn't easy for me given I have been inactive most of my life. I wish I had an easy fix, but when we try and change our minds want us to do otherwise. We must perservere. Have you tried doing the vision collage and focusing on the results you want? Just a suggestion. Good luck! emoticon

Try to find ways to make working out fun for you. If your problem is motivation, maybe your just bored with what your doing. This is how I stay motivated to exercide, I love music, so I listen to some of my fvorite song while working out and before you know it I'm done. The fe times I forgot my music, I barely lasted 30 minutes working out. So try to find ways to making working out more enjoyable and I quarantee you, you will find time to exercise. Although cutting back on soda is a good thing you may want to cut back slowly to prevent feeling deprived and possibly binging one day. congrats on making it 3 days without having one. Good luck on your wieght loss journey. emoticon

Giving up soda is a plus......you'll lose weight without trying. As far as not being motivated you have to not think of this as a diet, but a change for a better you. In order to get to where you want to be you have to make changes. Think of it this way, if you eat the wrong things your on a weight gain diet or lifestyle. You if embrace working out you may have fun and become fit. In order to accomplish anything you have to have a drive that will give you the stamina to complete your goal. If it's meant to be it's up to you. emoticon

Giving up pop was hard for me too; the last pop I've had in 18 months is ginger ale and that's only when I'm sick, so you can do it!

I have a problem staying focus also.. I was doing so good the first couple of days.. then yeh.. it can be pretty hard.. especially with work and kids.. I stopped drinking caffiene pop.. after awhile you will get use to it.. I love drinking water.. but sometimes i will get crystal light to add to the water for some flavor, that might help you out a lil.. Good Luck!
