Slightly bummed-out today

Thursday, April 22, 2010

For a couple of days now my ankles and lower legs have been very swollen and I'm not sure why. I get enough water, have not been eating processed food, I have not been adding salt to my food, and have never cooked with salt, So what is causing this edema.

I have just about finished all my sparking for tonight. There are a couple of things I should do but I think I will just go put my feet up for the rest of the evening -- what I used to call draining my ankles. he he I can always unload the dishwasher tomorrow.

Have a great evening all.

Hello! I started reading your blog and I sure could relate as I have CHF and I get edema and I have to weigh myself everyday and if I swell to much I am to take 40 extra mg. of my lasiks and about 2 days does it. You should discuss this with your physician to find out what is causing this. I have read some where, that some heart meds. can raise your trigliseride levels, which can cause type 2 diabetes. I am at the cusp and am pre diabetic. Best Wishes and I hope this get's better soon. emoticon Diana emoticon

Please go to the dr. if you can push on your leg and it makes a pit. It is not normal to swell that much. I too have an edema problem and have to take 2 water pills a day. I drink a lot and don't use salt in my cooking either. Mine is called Idiopathic,so far they have not found out why. I have been told it can be lungs or heart. So i think you should tell your dr. if you haven't already. emoticon

I sure wish I knew, 'cause that is starting to happen to me too; and I never can seem to relate it to anything I do.

Some manufactures add salt to meats now and such but it sounds like you may be getting some salt from somewhere. Drink your water and flush your system out.

Oh man, I am sorry to hear about the swelling. That never feels good. Hopefully it will go down for you and you will feel good as new. Take some extra time to put your feet up today.

I hope you feel better soon. How are your sugars and your meds? Those might contribute. I don't know. Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.
