I hope life has been treating everyone well. Meanwhile, it has really thrown me for a loop. I have been dealing with some unresolved issues in my life and they have affected me even more than I would like. I am not really sure what changed, but I simply stopped being able to handle everything that was being thrown my way.
And it really pains me to admit this, but I have definitely let it affect my food and my fitness. I haven’t wanted to exercise lately and I have definitely been craving comfort food. My calorie intake has been much higher within the last few days than it had been all last week.
Waking up two hours earlier than normal today convinced me to head to the gym. Too anxious to sleep? Fine, I’ll try and work off some of that anxious energy. I have been running for one minute/walking for one minute for awhile, and have started to run for two/walk for one. One day I would love to run a 5k, but I am not there yet. Although, I have noticed that my body is more willing to cooperate with working out than my mind is. I never realized truly how much goes into it mentally for me.
I did finally break my comfort food funk somewhat with trying fresh orange juice in my green monster at the fantastic suggestion of a coworker. Even with the craziness, I have been having a green monster daily. But I had stopped trying new things with it and was sticking to a combination of banana, strawberries, pea protein, flax, and spinach with water.
I was a little nervous to try it as my stomach does not like to handle citrus, but I figured a bit mixed in with everything else wouldn’t be too bad. This orange smelled FANTASTIC.
I used a handy kitchen gadget (someone want to tell me what it’s called?? a juicer?) to get the juice out.
And then I strained all of that silly pulp out.
Lately, instead of buying frozen strawberries I have been giving in to amazing fresh ones. I mean, don’t they look yummy?
I bought four pounds of them at the store and Aubrey helped me chop them all up. It was a fun assembly line we had going on! He was cutting the tops off of them on his cutting board, setting them on mine while I diced them up and bagged them.
I combined the frozen strawberries, frozen banana, spinach, pea protein, ground flax and my freshly squeezed orange juice in my magic bullet cup.
Here it is in the middle of blending.
Then it is finally complete with a straw. Sooo good!
What is your favorite fresh fruit this time of year? My other fave besides strawberries…watermelon! Yum. =)
