We've had to say "good-bye" to our dear friend, Romeo (my background picture). He's been my "puppy" for 14 years, but a full body stroke signaled the end. Our vet was gracious enough to meet us on a Sunday to help us ease our sweet dog into the next life, but it was a hard, hard decision. His ashes will go into the garden he loved so much so he'll always be with us.
On the good side, I'm up to 1 hr on the treadmill, at an average speed of 3.5 mph. I vary the speed and incline to keep it interesting, but I'll be glad when I can find a gym and return to the elliptical and the strenthening equipment. Our gym was the latest victim of the economic crunch so it's going to be hard to find a new one. Hubby gets home from work in time to use the local rec center, but they close early and are really crowded. But until I am fully healed, I'll be satisfied with my trusty treadmill, some healthy gardening, and my hand weights.
I've done well with nutrition, but I've stumbled across some really awful recipes. We've had some great meals and some that went straight down the disposal. Not all cookbooks are good, friends! I've tossed 2 and gone back to the ones I've used in the past.
I'll be heading out to CA in May to see the newlywed's new home. I'm looking forward to my first trip to the desert! I also have a precious new granddaughter who is about to celebrate a first birthday so life is good.
Oh! And I've lost 7 lbs! Woo-Hoo!
