Relay for Life
Saturday, April 17, 2010
Woohoo, I made it!! I just completed my first Relay for Life with the American Cancer Society. I was part of the IAAP Wasatch Waddlers team and we walked from 7:00 Friday night to 7:00 this morning! We didn't have to walk the whole night, we walked in shifts and my shift was from 2 to 3 this morning. I managed to stay awake for the entire night, made it home about 7:30 this morning and crashed for a couple of hours.
As soon as I got going I headed out to the my local Field to Families pick-up point and got some fresh fruits and vegetables that I had won in a contest on Facebook with their page.
I got fresh beets, potatoes, celery, leeks, avocados, tomatoes, baby spinach, another type of lettuce (not sure what it is). Now I just need to figure out how to fix dishes to go with what I have.
I have definitely been trying to eat better since my cancer diagnosis last November, so that is why I'm trying to eat more fresh vegetables and fruits. I'm doing okay sometimes, I'd say I've cut back eating out about 40%, so it's a start!
Thank you to all of you who have been supporting me in my bits and drabs of participating in my groups.
