31 DAY Cycle

I have been living with PCOS since I can remember. In my late teens I rarely got my period, maybe 4 times a year. In my early twenties I started eating better and I would get my period about every other month, 6 times a year. Right before I found Spark People I had been waiting almost three months for my period. I hate the wait, it feels heavy and it slows me down. When I got it I felt liberated, it marked a change for sure.


A friend of mine once told me that there is a correlation between PCOS, periods and diet and exercise. For the last thirty one days I have been including a healthy dose of exercise and good diet in each week and I am proud to say that this month I had my first ever31 day cycle.

    I want your brother to go get bloodwork done. He is losing weight (a lot of weight - and for no apparent reason) he's like skin over bones - and I have to wonder if maybe he doesn't have an overactive thyroid? He tells me that he eats...but he is frail looking...you should call him.

    There is definitely a relation between PCOS, periods, and diet/exercise. There is a big ol techincal & medical explanation of it too. Without boring you, it is because when you have PCOS, your body is producing too much of one thing and not enough of another. Your body can not absorb certain things, and does not balance out on its own.

    I have had PCOS ever since I can remember as well, and when I am eating right, exercising right, I feel better. The more weight I drop from eating right and exercising right, the better I feel. Once everything seems in sync, periods will slowly start reappearing. It takes time, alot of time, but there is most certainly a relation between them all!

    Having a 31 day cycle is DEFINITELY something to celebrate!! WOOHOOOO!!
