I still don't know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild
A million dead-end streets
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
-Changes, David Bowie
I am coming into a new awareness of myself. I am starting to see changes little ones mind you, but changes all the same.
It is the little things that mean the most, because if you are waiting to celebrate till you reach such-and-such amount of weight, you are missing the journey. Time keeps going, it isn't the destination, but the journey that makes the memories that last.
I remember putting on a pair of jeans that didn't fit well before, and now they do. Then they fit loose, and I had to give them up. My rings are spinning on my fingers, I will have to put some away till I can get them resized. My behind on the recumbent bike fits better, I can put my hands on either side on the handles and not have them touch my hips. I could't get comfortable last night, couldn't figuree out why, then I noticed that my ribs were hurting me on the hard mattress, I am used to having more padding!
I spent too many years on quick fixes, waiting for the day I would be at goal, which never happened. I would go on my ___________ diet, lose 20. But you can only 'white knuckle' it for so long, then you give up, it's too hard...
Not until Sparks had I started to view this as a lifestyle. It is because of the blogs and comments that I have seen how you can enjoy the ride as well, yes we all want to get to goal, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun along the way.
What little changes have you noticed? How has your life changed? There is no small victory....Celebrate!
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Don't want to be a richer man
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Just gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But I can't trace time
