I knew that our family had been eating much larger portions than we should just based on what our plates looked like after we heaped our dinner onto them. How surprised I was yesterday when I saw what we had previously set aside as portions for our family! It was quite an eye-opener.
We planned to have Top Sirloin last night for dinner, so my husband took a package out of the freezer to thaw. I didn't think much about it until I took it out to marinade yesterday. There were 3 steaks and they were almost 1 lb each! Which means that when we packaged them to freeze, we were planning on each eating one of those steaks. It was like having 1/2 a cow for dinner!
We now measure our portions so obviously we have plenty of meat left for stir-fry on Thursday. We had a good laugh about it, but I still felt a bit guilty about pushing that much food on my family. No wonder we had weight issues! It was good to see how far we've come in the past 6 weeks. Thanks Sparks, for opening our eyes to proper food portions.
