It was a beautiful Saturday.....

Sunday, April 11, 2010

Ok, SO yesterday was a beautiful day, sunny and warm, and we decided to run some errands. One of them was a pleasant trip to a mall (Tyrone Mall in St Petersburg, Fl) to do some shopping (the good kind, not the food kind. LOL).
We had been in the shopping for a while and decided to step out so we could have a cigarette. There we were standing at Dillard’s door when Del, joking, said “Look, somebody got your car”, pointing to a car that was coming in our direction which was very similar to mine.
I have a gold Seabring convertible and I have a very distinctive bumper sticker in the back of it… Well, when the car passed by us (and it was looking more and more like my car) I looked in the back and saw my bumper sticker. It took me a second to realize that it was not a car like mine. It was MY car and somebody was stealing it!!!!
I called 911, went through the thing, the police came, lots of talking. And then we went to Ruby Tuesday, because at that point I really could use a martini. I called a friend and she, coincidentally, was nearby and could give us a ride.
When she arrived and we were about to getting in the car, the police called. They found my car (in under than 2 hours!) abandoned on a street. WE went there and sure enough, it was my car. Call AAA, get the car towed to the mechanic, and my friend took us home.
I do not know how much damage was done to the car. The ignition was removed (did you Know you can start a car with a screw driver? I did not!). It seems that they left the car because they damage the radiator and the car overheated. I will know for sure tomorrow when the shop is opened.
Well, my friend stopped by my place (she was with 2 of her kids), we got some beer, ordered pizza and ended up having a very nice getting together.
It was a bad thing that turned a nice one. Tomorrow I will deal with the car issue.
But h9nestely? I thought that this thing of seeing your car being stolen was something that only happened in the movies. It seems it is not the case…

I'm so sorry! How absolutely horrifying this must have been - I could feel my heart up in my throat as I read your words! I hope all goes smoothly and well with the repairs. I might've gone to a distillery and imbibed a barrel or three after that one! Glad you're okay!

OH MY, how absolutely freaky to actually SEE your car being stolen! I would definitely gone and had a martini or 3! At least you had a nice evening.

Oh my gosh...I hope that everything is getting better day by day....I am an American living in Sao Paulo and constantly lectured about being "safe"...I guess this is kind of ironic, in a not so good way...but you made the best of a bad situation- emoticon

    That must have been BIZARRE!
Just watching your own car drive away!
Good luck with the repairs- will insurance cover it?
Was the top down?
I'm with AUNTIEEM, though, about the falling back to stress induced unhealthy habits, SIUH- hope you get right back on track today!

Wow! Not exaactly A fun day - but you did it. HGopefully this will not be too expensive for you.
But did you read this from a health prospect. I know I am not your Mother and I am probably being rude-BUT really! You stopped for a cigarette? Not healthy. You needed a martini? Hmmm, not a great decision. When you got home you had beer and pizza? I know it was a tough day and you had a lot going on, but I hope this is not a regular day. Sorry about being your conscience but I thought you might think about better choices.
Just my "old lady" advice.
