Ok, SO yesterday was a beautiful day, sunny and warm, and we decided to run some errands. One of them was a pleasant trip to a mall (Tyrone Mall in St Petersburg, Fl) to do some shopping (the good kind, not the food kind. LOL).
We had been in the shopping for a while and decided to step out so we could have a cigarette. There we were standing at Dillard’s door when Del, joking, said “Look, somebody got your car”, pointing to a car that was coming in our direction which was very similar to mine.
I have a gold Seabring convertible and I have a very distinctive bumper sticker in the back of it… Well, when the car passed by us (and it was looking more and more like my car) I looked in the back and saw my bumper sticker. It took me a second to realize that it was not a car like mine. It was MY car and somebody was stealing it!!!!
I called 911, went through the thing, the police came, lots of talking. And then we went to Ruby Tuesday, because at that point I really could use a martini. I called a friend and she, coincidentally, was nearby and could give us a ride.
When she arrived and we were about to getting in the car, the police called. They found my car (in under than 2 hours!) abandoned on a street. WE went there and sure enough, it was my car. Call AAA, get the car towed to the mechanic, and my friend took us home.
I do not know how much damage was done to the car. The ignition was removed (did you Know you can start a car with a screw driver? I did not!). It seems that they left the car because they damage the radiator and the car overheated. I will know for sure tomorrow when the shop is opened.
Well, my friend stopped by my place (she was with 2 of her kids), we got some beer, ordered pizza and ended up having a very nice getting together.
It was a bad thing that turned a nice one. Tomorrow I will deal with the car issue.
But h9nestely? I thought that this thing of seeing your car being stolen was something that only happened in the movies. It seems it is not the case…
