Reflection In The Mirror~Staying Serious Day 32

I was in the bathroom washing my hands when I stopped and took a good look at myself-actually I was looking at my appearance. Earlier, I found myself feeling extremely uncomfortable in my own skin. I just felt frumpy when I looked at others who were younger and smaller and size-like a size 0/2! I was in my scrubs w/a colorful bandanna over my messy head of hair. I felt unattractive in my appearance. So as I stood in front of this mirror, looking at my reflection, I found myself looking very unkempt.

The care we take in preparing our appearance, says a lot about how we feel about ourselves. Dressing in scrubs, sweats, t-shirts or other baggy clothes, not taking time to put some makeup on or do our hair-that definitely effects our weight loss journey!

So we need to take the time to primp and make ourselves feel attractive and worth it! Make yourself look presentable. The first impression is a lasting one! Get dressed up emoticon and wear something cute to make you feel good about yourself. You are worth that extra effort. A little jewelry, or even if you just put a touch of lipstick on or a dressy pair of shoes. Get a manicure or do it yourself if you can't afford it at the moment. These little pick me ups are great for our spirit.

I promise to you that from now on, I will not leave home without checking my reflection and making sure I have put forth my best effort! I am worth it!

    I agree! I always feel like I'm more productive at work when I'm dressed nicer. I work in an office and have to wear dress clothes most of the time. On the days we wear jeans I feel less like working!

    I agree Simone. How we feel when we walk out of the house really makes a difference in how our days progress. When we look in the mirror and can find and appreciate what we see, it does make a difference. However, I do think it takes a conscious effort not to be critical of ourselves. You always have such a wonderful way of expressing yourself. I love the way you observe and think!!!

    I've been thinking about that recently too! Lately I've been going to the gym early in the morning and rushing to work and not even putting any makeup on! It's like my fitness routine has totally taken over my primping routine. Which is cool, because it's better that I work out than spend a lot of time on my hair and makeup. But then I look at the mirror later on in the day and I'm like, ugh!

You're totally right. I should take the time to take care of myself inside AND out!

    It sure DOES make a difference!!!! Last summer when I was 200+ lbs I frequently went out looking frumpy because I FELT frumpy... I always wore my nasty old sneakers (because my feet hurt in anything else) and baggy t-shirts. Now that I have been successful with my weightloss I go out of my way to primp before going out. I feel SO good and so much better about myself. Great blog!!!

    Awesome post/observation! I am so guilty of this. I workout in the morning & usually stay in my frumpy workout clothes all day or jeans & one of hubby's t-shirts. I'm motivated to make the extra effort to look happy & put together even if my kids are the only ones that see me.
