Both my hips were very sore before I got up today, and I was still pretty tired out from yesterday, even though I went to bed earlier than usual. I had plans to check out the AAUW's annual used book sale this morning; I love to read and most of the books I read are used ones, and used book sales don't happen that often in my small town, so I really did not want to miss it today. Still, I considered not going, both because of the way I was feeling, and because it was so darn cold out again today. But, I got up, and as I was getting ready to go, started feeling a little better.
I am glad I went, despite feeling sore. I found some good books; paid $11 for 7 books, some in almost new condition. I probably would have looked around a little longer if I had not been so tired, but I am very happy with what I found. A couple of the books were ones on my never ending list of "books I want to read someday". They are all fiction, except for the book I found of stability ball exercises.
And since I was already out and about anyway, I went out to Walmart for a few things I needed. I use to work there until November 2008; I talked to a few of my former coworkers, and got lots of hugs. I keep in touch with some of them through Facebook, and by the time I was in the store today, even the ones that are not computer users heard about me starting chemo again. When you work with a group of people for a long time, they feel like a second family, and even though I have been gone from there for over a year now, I could still feel the love. I don't miss the management of the place, and I don't like Walmart as a cooperation, but the people I worked with are all good people, hard workers, and they work hard to give the customers good customer service.
I found a really cute cotton cami top there for only $4, white with a hot pink and black "snakeskin" print; I don't usually go for the animal prints, but this was really cute. I found a cotton knit zip front hoodie jacket, Danskin brand, in pink to match for $9. I plan on wearing them with a pair of black yoga pants to my chemo on Tuesday, it will be a cute outfit and comfy too if I want to just lounge around when I get home. The top will be good for easy access to my port, and maybe the bright, cheerful color will make me feel better.
I bought a couple of new bandanas too, in floral prints; one chambray blue and the other light violet. Even though I don't know if I will lose all my hair yet, I'm am pretty sure it will be thinning; and I probably will not be wanting to use my curling iron in it or a lot of styling products, so whether I lose all of it or not, I'm pretty sure I'll be using scarves through this. I still have all my hats and scarves from my chemo in 2003 also.
I also bought two 2 pound weights; I plan to use them for my bicep curls, as the 1 pound weights have started to feel too "easy" for those. But I still plan on using the 1 pound weights for exercises other than the bicep curls; my arms still get tired out using the lighter weights for those. No strength training today though, as my back is feeling a little more sore than usual today. I plan on doing it tomorrow though.
I also applied for my new insurance coverage online; now I just have to wait and see if I am approved or not. I also did some more research; if worst case I am denied and won't have coverage after my COBRA expires next month, I am pretty sure I can get Medicaid to use until my Medicare starts in November. I am trying not to stress about it for now; nothing I can do now and wait to be notified of their decision, I keep telling myself that worrying about it won't make things move any faster.
I am tired, and I can feel the effects of the extra walking around from yesterday and today, but I enjoyed my time out today. I have the whole weekend now to stay home and relax. Monday morning I am meeting a friend for breakfast, and then I'll do my grocery shopping.
