Me vs. the Birthday Cake

Friday, April 09, 2010

Unfortunately, it seems the birthday cake is winning...

To explain: My 25th birthday was on Tuesday, so that night I went out to eat my parents--Outback Steakhouse, which was wonderful, but I would have enjoyed it more if I had not accidently slurped down a giant glass of sangria in under five minutes without thinking about it...they really shouldn't serve wine with straws ^_^;; (or with rum, for that matter).

Then I celebrated again on Wednesday with my friends. It was pretty informal; we all went to CiCi's Pizza after our anime club meeting and then I had them all over to play video games. I had a couple of cakes (that's right, a couple--one fudge cake and one oreo cream), as well as two gallons of ice cream (I wanted cookies and cream, but since the cake was all chocolate, I got vanilla too just in case someone turned out to be allergic) right now, I still have almost two gallons of ice cream in the freezer in the garage, and about half a cake still left over.

So I keep thinking that I should probably take those leftovers to work and feed it to people in the office, but then I think, naw, there's really not enough left...and it's not like I'm going to gain five pounds or anything if I happen to eat the rest of it over the next week or so (after all, if I leave it out in the kitchen, my dad will probably eat some more of it too)...and the ice cream should keep until it's time for a graduation party ^_^

I actually hadn't weighed myself in a week, so I decided to weigh myself earlier today to see what kind of damage I had done over the past few days. I was happy to see that I had not gained any weight, and had actually lost .2 lbs (the first reading said I had lost 8 lbs--obviouly the Wii balance board does not work on the carpet ^_^;;)

The thing is, I still have a couple of dresses I want to fit into before A-kon in June, so it would probably be a good idea to get rid of the rest of the cake...unfortunately, it's really good cake ^_^;; And I should probably also go back to actually counting my calories...

Anyway, I actually had a really good birthday. I hadn't done anything for my birthday outside my family in like 10 years, and the party was probably the best one I ever one fell asleep, and no one tried to kill themself, so I'm counting it as a success,, you guys would understand if you had been to the Halloween party I threw a few years back ^_^;; Seriously though, everyone actually did seem to have fun, and it went until one in the morning, and probably would have gone later if it wasn't a school night...

Sometimes to live life you have to eat some cake. So enjoy it. And then get rid of the leftovers ;)
