Dr. visit today

Wednesday, April 07, 2010

Well I had a followup appt today with the doc. I have had pnemonia for the past 4 weeks and didn't know it. There is still a crackle in my lungs so he ordered another x-ray to make sure all is ok. I know it is gradually healing because I am not coughing as much as I was (although still a lot) and not nearly as much mucus and phlegm.

Because it is taking so long for my lungs to clear and with my history of bronchitis, etc..... he is concerned about COPD. He cannot have me tested for this though, until the pnemonia clears. I go back in 2 weeks so he can check the progress.

And the crowing glory of my visit? I have a sore on my leg which he called a pre-cancerous carcinoma and later called it Basal Cell Carcinoma. He will be sending me for a biopsy when he can get an appointment. The bright side, this is the easiest cancer to treat and has a very high success rate. The down side is he said the biopsy will hurt AND take a long time to heal.

I had to tell him about an MRI my opthamologist has arranged for me and why. That apt should have been April 1st, but with the way I have been coughing, I could just see me in that tube and having a coughing fit because you have to lie flat in there. Me choking and not able to sit up or roll over -- no thank you, so I phoned and asked them for a new date. I now go April 29th which is so lucky, becasue I had to wait 3 1/2 months to get that first appt. So a 4 week delay is actually very good. Sure hope they can figure out why I seem to be loosing my vision in the left eye.

Lots of medical info. Still a lot of research to do, but not tonight. It is late and I'm getting tired, so I will work on it tomorrow.

I'm glad that the pneumonia is clearing up, but make sure you take the full run of the antibiotic to get cleared up. It is good news that the MRI was able to be scheduled in a reasonable time.

It's good you brought up the sore on your leg, by taking care of this early, there should not be any reoccurrance.

Take care of yourself and I hope you feel much better real soon!! emoticon

You have a lot of medical challenges and I hope they improve soon. I had pneumonia in the past and it is hard to get rid of. I was sick for 9 months. I hope you do not have COPD.
Basil cell is easiest to treat. I hope you have a speedy recovery.
