Holy Crap!~

So I sat down this morning and ate my Shreddies, then I added itto the calorie counter on here, then I practically fell over!!!
Holy Crap....it added up to more than my total caloric intake for the day!! Who would have thought!

I'm starting to really see just how easy it is to not see the amount you're eating. As far as I was concerned I was eating 1 bowl of cereal. Of course it never dawned on me that the bowls we have are not really a typical bowl as far as portions are concerned. My bowls look like any other bowl out there....however, it's not a proper portion.

It's interesting to see how conditioned we are to believing we're eating a typical serving when in fact it's probably about 4 servings. No wonder our society is so over weight these days....and the food and drug industry is making millions off us.

    I knooow! It's so not fair! My favourite cereal is Cap'n Crunch, but I only eat it once every few months. I'll go through the entire box in one day because of how good it is. When I read the nutritional information, though, I can almost feel my arteries clogging from all of the heart-stopping goodness!

I wouldn't give up cereals since they're just so quick and easy. Just stick with ones that have a positive side effect aside from the whole, like, "I HAVE 10597230957235 CALORIES, BUAHAHAHAHA." I'm a huge fan of Corn Flakes, though I'm trying to get into the habit of eating Raisin Bran. I hate raisins...

    AS FOR ME I HAVE CHOSEN TO EAT NO MORE CEREAL PERIOD. EVEN SPECIAL K IS FULL OF SUGAR CHECK BOX IT IS LISTED ABOUT 2 ON LIST.

WE DO FEED GRAIN TO FATTEN CATTLE AND PIGGIES ON THE FARM .

CEREAL IS GRAIN . I THINK I STICK TO GETTING MY FIBER FROM

GREEN VEGETABLES AND BEANS .

I BEEN OFF CEREAL OF ANY TYPE TWO WEEKS AND I THINK I AM

LOSING WEIGHT.

I EAT TURKEY BACON IN AM ONLY AND COFFEE SPLENDA

MAYBE PIECE STRING CHEESE.

    After reading on a box of cereal one day I found that I was actually having a 60g bowl instead of the recommended 30g so i can understand your frustration

    I agree with you. We need to check how much a portion is and measure that portion into our bowl or plate. I know I have the same trouble, especially when it comes to cereal.

    you are right. they make plate and bowls so large and when you fill them up it is 3 to 4 servings. i found some small bowls at walmart they are made corelle. a serving of frosted mini wheat fills them about 3/4 the way. i try really hard to use them instead of my large salad bowls. emoticon
