"Candy-free Easter"..a success

Monday, April 05, 2010

Not a bad day...I had a small dairy queen vanilla cup...but no pie..no cake..no chocolate. I'm glad my girls are much older because it makes it easier. I have always tried to limit the junk food, and instead fill baskets with markers, crayons, books, jewelry, makeup, etc. DQ for dessert was their big request.

My nerves are still on end, although sleep is getting a little better. When the meds wear off the insomnia kicks in.

I've discovered my new snack..hard boiled egg whites. I don't miss the yolk at all. I think I'm going to experiment with alternative fillings for deviled eggs. Maybe a few yolks mixed with hummus? I think the texture is similar. Maybe some soft tofu with a bit of yellow mustard and some horseradish for flavor. That will be my experiment next week.

Great job! I had a challenge in one of my teams for no sugar. So instead of hot tea, which I need a tsp of sugar in I had Ice tea which i don't need it in. I actually made it the day. Today however, I did have my cup of hot tea.

Join the club...did another candy-free Easter here too...DID indulge in the same as yourself, a small soft-serve cone. Bet hummus would taste just fine in those eggs! I've been having fun creating various hummus recipes from dried chickpeas...so much less expensive than buying store made or buying chickpeas in cans with BPA...yum!

You had a great Easter! No candy in this house either! I did make an angel food cake, but still lots left.

I think those ideas for deviled eggs might work for my family, too! Thanks for the ideas :)
