Today I was truly Inspired

Saturday, April 03, 2010

I took the cutest stuffed lamb over to one of my church and Hospice friends at a rehab/nursing home.
A couple of months ago this fantastic 88 year old suffered a massive stroke. The first time I visited she wanted to give up, as son her wanted a feeding tube (she couldn't swallow) She told me NO, in no uncertain terms. Word came up that her tests showed she could swallow and the tide turned. She is legally blind and has lived alone (with only son taking her to dinner and shopping once a week) for many years. Now from the stroke she was totally paralyzed on her right side.
Today there is hope that she will go home with a walker in a couple of weeks. When I saw her the first time I told her "If HE brings you too it, HE will bring you through it". HE did. BTW the Lamb, although it looked like "Lambchop" is a symbol of Easter. We are HIS flock. I certainly am inspired by this spunky little lady. To me this is a lesson learned. No matter how big or how small the challenge, we can do it if we only have the will.

Hugs,
Lee

Such a great story she has a lot of grit, I guess that's what it takes to get along in that condition with so little help. Glad you were there to make her Easter better. Hope you have a great Easter.

Do they still make people like that lady?? My mom was that way too. Real spunk. She always said, "If you think about it too long, you'll talk yourself out of it" - or, in the case of losing weight, I'd say "if you think about that certain treat too long, sooner or later you'll eat it!"

Can't help feeling inspired! Thanks, Lee.
