Lose 30 lbs....

Thursday, April 01, 2010

April fools everyone!

Hello! My name is Lin of Utah. I'm 50 yrs old ( ouch! I’m embarrassed to say the least) not quite 5' tall but close.

This is the umpteenth time, I'm starting my health & fitness plan. I was quite active in my youth and my weight concerns did not start until after my 4th (youngest) child became a teenager. I used to get most of the weight off fairly quick until a couple of years, it wasn't coming off. I've tried different types of products from diet pills, shakes and teas, you name it. However with the exception of the healthy chocolate loaded with antioxidants. I did drop 10 lbs off, that was two and half years ago, and I gained it all back. In my numerous attempts, I failed quite a bit and use food as an excuse each day to cope with stress related issues. Sound familiar?

Quite frankly, I didn't work out as much for the last couple of years. At my age, it is expected to see a decline in my metabolism rate, that explains why I struggled in keeping it off.

Nevertheless, it has been an interesting start and hope to accomplish my weight goal by end of August to lose 30-31 lbs.

I look forward to having more buddies in this site and also in our town who would walk with me. So far, I gathered up 5 church members last week to walk about 1-2 miles every Mondays and Thursdays. Can't wait 'til I see more women participating in this walk in the next couple of weeks. My next year's goal is to organize a team of men and women to walk for a good cause for groups such, “Autism speaks, Breast Cancer, Diabetes. and other health issues.

To wrap this up, I urge everyone, if you have not started a certain exercise regimen, please do yourself a favor and make that commitment to stay fit and healthy, today! And if you find yourself like you’ve failed, please, pick yourself up. It's never too late to start again. Join me in this journey of looking great this summer! What’s your story?

You can get to a healthy weight. Might not be the petite little thing you were in high school since things are changing in your body and you have had children.
I am 81 years old. In 2007 started seriously losing weight and in 9 months lost 55 pounds. I did gain some back but now am working on it again. Have about 7 pounds more to lose.
You can see my page if you like.

Keep up the walking. It will help you lose those last unwanted pounds. That's how I did it. I just walked my first 5k for AHA at age 50. You are never to old to start getting fit.

Check out the AVA for walking groups in your area.

Good luck on your journey to a healthier and happier you!
