Why Everyone Should Own A...

So, we didn't get to walk the last few days because of the rain. My Emma is depressed! She misses her doggie friends. She misses her endorphins! She doesn't understand why the rain stops our daily routine!! So, I check the window, looks like a break in the clouds?!

Okay...I'm being really optimistic at this point for Emma! But, I must confess...I'm missing my endorphins!! It's just not the same walking on the treadmill. Actually, I HATE the treadmill! I watch the minutes tick away and it seems like FOREVER! I would rather walk outside. I would rather tackle the hike up the hill (that is more challenging than the steepest incline on the treadmill!)

So I put on my walking shoes...Emma is REALLY excited at this point! She starts jumping around...slipping on my wood floors. Calm down girl---we are GOING! I put on my earmuffs and we are off! Boy, it's chilly out. But, I know as soon as we start climbing, I will warm up! Halfway up the trail one of Emma's doggie friends (Krusher, who I call Rufus--he just looks like a Rufus! Can't help it!! emoticon ) shows up! He's a scary, but friendly guy! Really likes to sniff my girls privates (and she does NOT like it!!) We make it to the top, start heading down when I spot the neighbors dog. Now, I wouldn't mind another fur-baby joining the party, but this particular neighbor 'warned' us that her dogs can be mean and attack! HELLO...if your dog is vicious, PLEASE, keep them locked up! Grrrr...... So, back up the hill I go before "Killer" spots me! I go find a big stick (I will play Mama Bear and defend my cub!) The added bonus here is that I got more exercise/steps in!! Yippee... Headed back down the hill, and the "killer" dog is now gone! Thank goodness...I really didn't want a fight on my hands!

We made it home, dry!! No rain!!

Emma is now smiling!! As an added bonus for her, I threw the ball in the yard for a few minutes!!

There really was a break in the clouds...

Everyday my dog, Emma, waits patiently for our hike. She doesn't like excuses. She keeps me on track!!

Thanks Emma...

Emma sounds like a love. What a great motivator. I had dogs when I was growing up. I love them..sometimes more than people bc they give unconditional love. I do have two cats now however I am raising them as dogs. lol, they take baths and fetch. Heather :)

WOW this Mama Bear is proud of her CUB...Nice story...Kind of glad I was out of town...You know me~I DON'T like the killer dog..He scares me mainly because of Emma...I could handle him if he attacked me but if he hurt my Granddoggie I might have to do him in.. emoticon emoticon

What a nice walk complete with killer dogs, stormy clouds emoticon and conquering of hills. Don't think I like the sniffing one though. Back off Rufus!! Sounds like you had a great workout and don't worry, brighter days are ahead. emoticon
