Vacation = Weight Loss...wait, what?

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

So I came back from seeing a great friend of mine who I haven't seen in nearly 2 years. When I did meet him about 2 years ago, I was doing well. I was exercising several days a week and had been consistently losing weight.

Then I moved back to Florida and started putting on the weight with my dissertation, work, stress, and family stress. I had started SparkPeople about a month ago and have been trying to come on here as a way to stay motivated. My friend's birthday was coming up, he had moved to Pittsburgh, wanted me to fly up, and what the heck, I needed a vacation. Even though was up there for 5 days, eating off my usual schedule and foods that I would normally avoid (i.e. lobster sandwich with lots of butter, cookies, beer etc) I came back to weigh myself and had lost 2 lbs! Not really expected. The rest of that week, my body weight fluctuated but has steadied and I broke my plateau. My body weight is no longer fluctuating either. I think happiness and less stress is my best friend for weight loss. Either way, I'm not complaining. emoticon

I need to tell my friend to have another birthday soon.
