So the scale's back up and running...

Thursday, March 25, 2010

...even though I didn't put any new batteries in. Hmmmmm... It says I lost a pound, so I'll take it at its weak-battery word.

Going to the Gyne today for an interesting test. She wants to run a blood test for my vitamin D levels. Evidently, they can play a big role in GI problems (which I've had over the last few years). She also wants to test my cholesterol, which has never been a problem, but it's been a while since I've been tested.

I could be low on vitamin D. I work all day and don't get out much... I'm also fair-skinned and need to wear sunblock in the summer. I just started to take a D supplement right before she mentioned testing for the D, so that's only been a couple of weeks. We'll see!

So I'm fasting this morning and I'm STARVING. Amazing how much I'm missing breakfast. I'm surprised I'm so hungry. Maybe it's in my head?

Thanks for the great comments, everyone! It's nice to know people read my blogs and actually get something from them. I'm not just typing into the wind... emoticon

I'll report back when I get the results about the vitamin D and share what I learn with everyone.

I was on high-dose prescription D for a few months, and believe it or not, my WEIGHT LOSS improved once the D was where it should be!

I'm taking 10,000 i.u. vit D per week as I wear sunscreen daily and live in a northern country where the sun doesn't shine enough in winter to fill our vit D daily requirement! It 's surprising how many people are low on this vitamin once they take the test...

Hope you have good results, but even if it is low all you have to do is take a supplement. I am a Home Health Nurse and have noticed an increasing number of my patients having to take supplements. Surprisingly enough mine was low too (who would have thunk since I'm in and out all day at my job).
Looking forward to your next post.
