Me and nature...

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Ok this entry is part of a challenge to blog something about me & nature. And what a great time to do it too...the snow has almost disappeared, the first crocuses and robins have been seen--in our own yard--and the weather is actually conducive to me wanting to be outdoors for my exercise.

One of my favourite signs of spring is that feeling in my feet when I can finally wear shoes instead of boots and feel the soft, no-longer-frozen earth pushing back at me when I'm walking. I've been relishing that as I walk a nearby trail. And watching the paired-off ducks on the brook, and inspecting the trees for new buds--this is a good time to be outside, and feeling the earth and the change of seasons.

The other thing I love about this is it puts me in touch with my Creator because I am experiencing the world as He made it and not just the man-made stuff that obscures it. Here I see His hand and am reminded that He is wise and good.

I ALMOST would prefer living in a Mediterranean like climate - like California's.

But all the people have spoiled it and I chose to live where there appears to be four seasons.

In the Kansas City, MO area, we have L O N G winters, a short Spring, a L O N G summer, and a short fall, and you are absolutely right.

New growth is a time of wonder at the Masterpiece our Father made for us.

It is a very uplifting time.

Your post was very uplifting! I moved to the country several years ago and, surrounded by nature, feel much closer to God :)
