New way to get email SparkPoints - if emails getting blocked

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Hi everyone

We are still working to resolve our email problems with Yahoo. Also as mentioned in a past post most people not on Yahoo should be receiving emails.

We made a site enhancement today so you can also view today's daily emails on the site. We thought this would be helpful for days when you can't get your emails. You can read the email content and also earn SparkPoints. To get to the emails you can:
- Go to your Start page
- Click on "Account/Email Preferences" on the upper left of the Start page
- Click on the "Email" tab on your Account Preferences page
- Next to each of our 6 daily newsletter titles you will see a "View today's" link; clicking this will bring up today's email
- Currently you can only see today's email (March 23), but over time you'll be able to click back to older emails you might have missed

We also lowered the daily point cap for email SparkPoints from 50 to 10. The reason we used to have at 50 was in case you didn't get emails from us for a few days because of technical issues but then got them all later.

As always thank you for your support!

Dave H.

This doesn't solve my problem but it does help as I now know an easier way to get to the unsubscribed list that shows the threads I should have gotten an e-mail for and didn't. I also like that I can go there to read today's newsletters when I have the time. I don't subscribe to them because it's too much to deal with on a daily basis, but sometimes I'd like to read them.

Thanks for adding this feature, it will help me a lot as I have now hundreds of emails that I'm backlogged on. Maybe I can stay caught up daily and work on the older ones a little at a time. However, only 10 points is kind of low. I can't find time every day to get to the emails as I'd rather be doing the things on the web site. Would you consider increasing the points? Maybe going back to 50 will not work for you, but what about 20 or 25 points? Just a suggestion, please take it into consideration. Thanks for all you do to make SP so awesome!

I am also a not "every day" reader because of lack of time. Please reconsider 10 point limit. As it is now, I delete without credits several times a week.
I do enjoy your site, especially work out tips & recipes.
Thanks for caring, Erika

Thanks for trying to stay on top of things. I get most of mine. Every so often a day gets skipped, but it seems to resolve itself. I'm glad there is a way around the technology.

I'm one of those who doesn't have time to read emails every day. I'm reading and deleting about a hundred SP emails today (and not getting the points). Please reconsider raising the number to something higher than 10.
Either way, I'm grateful for this site and I share it with *everyone*! Thank you!

I had not been getting the emails since I'm on Yahoo, but one did get through and I put it in my ADDRESS BOOK. Since then (about a week ago) I've been getting all of them again. emoticon

I agree I too would like to see it go back to a higher number. I don't get to my person e-mail everyday and when I travel I never even look at a computer so I would be missing two weeks of e-mails and needing to catch up. I can understand why you made it the way it was, but that would be the same for those who don't get a chance to read their e-mails everyday.

TERMITEMOM 4/9/2010 6:41AM

I agree with previous comments: limiting the e-mails at 10 is a bit too low. I usually catch up on my mail over the week ends and they do accumulate. With no incentive left, this will make me use the "delete key" and I may miss important things. Thank you.

I, too, would LOVE to have the email reading higher than 10. I don't have a chance to read them every day, and was sad when it got lowered. But I'm thrilled that I seem to be getting my SP emails delivered regularly now!

I also wish you would rethink lowering the only getting 10 points a day from reading e-mails. I have been offline at home from early January until yesterday due to broken water lines in my ceiling which crashed my ability to have access to my computer (it along with the modem and everything got soaked)

I am also one of those people who don't get to check their email every 10 minutes & think the 10 email/day limit is a bit low!
A limit of 10/day is unfair to those of us who have other obligations in life ... please rethink this!!!

Thanks for this info. It was very helpful. I had just discovered the new 10 point limit the other day when I was catching up on emails. Now I know why, but I agree that 20 or 25 would be more reasonable for all those catch-up days.

KBUCKMASH 3/28/2010 5:36AM

I would like to see you reconsider the daily point cap for email SparkPoints from 50 to 10. If I miss one or two days I am okay but if I were to miss 3 days of emails and got caught up in one day I would be over the 10. Missing that many days is easy if one is on vacation or something happens in ones schedule that prevents computer time.

PSALM22 3/28/2010 1:00AM

I'm sadden at the decrease in maximum daily points for the e-mails. If I'm off the grid (i.e. no Internet access) for several days, it will now take several days to catch up on the backlog instead of one (or two at the most).

Also, it's not always possible due to time constraints and real life activities to check e-mails every day.

Please reconsider and find a happy medium - maybe 25?

As of today, I've sent several e-mails to my friends (wanting to send SP info to them). None of them are getting the e-mails. I haven't had difficulty when sending through other sites. And, yes, in one case it is a yahoo address (as is mine).

I agree with 10 being to small a number. Sometimes in a regular (busy) day all I have time to do is log nutrition & fitness, check in with teams to post on the threads and lend a little support to someone in need. I love to read the emails because they are so full of great just takes time, which is not always available on a daily basis.

Please reconsider!!

I agree, I liked the 50 number better. At least make it 20 or 25. When you're gone for awhile, they do accumulate.

Sometimes lately, I don't get emails for days on end on Yahoo. I also think 10 a day is too low, like if go on vacation and then try to catch up when you get home. One day I had a problem with brand new emails. When I clicked on to get my point, I was told I already received points for those emails. It was very frustrating. Maybe I had already received 10 points and this new 10 a day limit had already taken effect. In any event, it was very frustrating.

This will be great. I do agree, though, that 10 is too low a value for e-mail reading since there are so many options and topics for receiving e-mail.

Just throwing my two cents in:

I agree with some of the others. There are times (particularly vacations when I'm gone for a few days or business trips, etc.) where I'm catching up on Spark. I'll have way more than 10 emails to read.

Can you please reconsider the change of dropping the maximum points down to 10? I liked 50 much better!
