To move or not to move? Decision to make this AM. What 2 do?

Saturday, March 20, 2010

I need to make a decision to move from my existing hotel to one further out. This may not seem like a big decision but for some reason it feels like it. It will likely change my behavior for the next 10 days.

OVERVIEW - I am having a pretty good time in the UK but...
- I have gone out to dinner EVERY night
- I have had drinks EVERY night
- I am not getting 8 hours of sleep
- My longest work out has been only 1 hr
- I have not studied for my CISM a single night
- I am behind on my work work

I think I will be going to London tomorrow so I will have some fun. I have next weekend here also. I am here until 3/31. So there is still time.

The hotel I am staying in is not a comfortable place to relax or in general be in. It is not terrible but does not have a clean feel. No room service, so no pampering myself. It only 10 minutes from work.

The other hotel is equally as small but..
- Is real nice, clean and comfortable (easier to go back to the room to work or relax).
- It is 25 to 30 minutes from work (longer walk to work)
- It has a workout facility. I have been lucky so far with no rain but who knows.

This may sound stupid but what are your thoughts? Petty?

Glad I moved. I worked some and went for a long walk along the river. I came back to my relaxing room and ordered room service, "toasted tomato & mature cheddar cheese on brown bloomer" and a KitKat. No liquor tonight :)

The plan it to be up early for a run in the park. Then off to England.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I did move hotels. It was a bit of a pain but not too bad and the internet connection is not as strong BUT...

This hotel is sooo much nicer. There is sunlight in my room :) The people are nicer and it feels good.

I will work now (catch up a bit so I don't feel guilty) and then take a walk into town a bit later to see some of the shops and grab a bit. Back on track. Thanks again.

Sounds like you should be moving! More exercise possibilities, so no excuse to avoid it. Maybe you would get a better sleep there, who knows? I got to admit, don't know why people have trouble walking in the rain. Its a heck of a lot better then dealing with walking in the snow and ice in winter!!
Good luck with it, and enjoy your weekend!

DEFINITELY ***NOT*** petty. I think feeling good about where you're calling "home" is EXTREMELY important.

My first reaction is MOVE!!! Sounds like there are too many pitfalls about where you are (can't sleep??? that's so bad for you!) and some better possibilities at the other place (requiring a longer walk).

Go for it.
