"Yield yourselves to God as though you have been raised from the dead to life, and you bodily members to God, presenting them as implements of righteousness. " I came across this scripture this morning and found it to be very profound. How would we live if we had died and were brought back to life? When I was much younger and my baby, now almost 22, was only five months old I could have easily died. I went outside and fell and got a concussion while my husband was out of town hunting with his father in November. We were pretty isolated so it's not like we would get visitors. I lay outside for about two hours, unable to care for my three children under four years old. Many a person has a story of a near death experience of one sort or another. The thing that is common to almost everyone of them is how it changes their life. They realize what is most important. It's not money or prestige, but relationships. They learn to live each day to the fullest not wanting to miss out on a single opportunity. They love more deeply. We were once dead in our sins. We have been raised to life by the sacrifice of Jesus. How has that changed us? Do we live like we were once dead or now alive? I want my body to be used as an implement of righteousness. I am not quite sure how to go about that, but will be looking. Farm implements are things like tractors and plows. I can till the soil of another person's heart so that the seeds of God can be planted. I can use my lips to encourage and uplift rather than tear down. I have a feeling this is exactly what was spoken of here.
Think about your life in light of this scripture and see where you stand. Are there changes you should be making? I know there are in my life.
