Increased Number of Pharmaceutical Ads On SP

Thursday, March 18, 2010

It's personally perplexing to see an increased number of ads for pharmaceuticals on a health-oriented website. Yes, I know that advertisers keep the site free, but I really don't agree with having these types of ads on here. Seems antithetical to the health message. Sure, I know that drugs have their place. But where will the line be drawn? If it increases, I will leave. It's that simple.

(There are 4 different drug ads so far. And counting. Why not accept cigarette and alcohol ads as well? When you read the potential side effects of these drugs, you're telling me they are healthy and safe?)

I agree 100%. You must be willing to have some ethics, and draw the ethical line in the sand. Including the strings to your pocketbook.

I hadn't noticed either. Hopefully there will be fewer in the coming days. We don't want to lose you.

Every free website I am on has numerous kinds of advertising. I guess I just don't pay much attention to them. If one catches my eye I will check it out. As far as the pharmaceutical stuff. I don't take anything that my doctor and I haven't discussed throughly. I just don't believe in miracle drugs.

I don't pay much attention to them. I see plenty of them on TV and in magazines. But some people could be swayed to think they need them. Hopefully SP will change and delete some of this but please, don't leave for that reason. I would miss you! emoticon

I have never really noticed. I must be ignoring them too.

I guess I have been ignoring them ,I will have to open my blinkered eyes .I must admit I am not always a good candidate for advertising as I tend to block it all out I am not sure it even gets through to me subliminally the only ad I even recall seeing recently on Spark was for a government of Canada Health site that gave people updates on health related issues .
